Christine O'Donnell Walks Off Piers Morgan Set

I like how nonplussed Morgan was at the stupidity of her responses when he tried to get her to talk about gay marriage:

(paraphrased)

O’Donnell: “That’s covered in the book, so I’m not going to talk about it here. Let’s get back to talking about things in my book.”

Morgan: “But, I am trying to talk about your book. You give your opinion on gay marriage in the book, right?”

O’Donnell: “Yes, but I’m not here to talk about that. I’m here to talk about my book.”

Morgan: “But… but…”

Yep, that Christine O’Donnell is a master debater.

I always have trouble getting Christine O’Donnell and Michele Bachmann mixed up. Not that they look alike. I just can’t keep the names straight. Which one is running for Prez and which is a witch. Which name matches which picture.

Doesn’t matter I guess. I’m not a supporter of either lady. I wonder if other people had similar problems?

Hell, this little brouhaha might boost her book sales, too.

Side note - I couldn’t help guffaw when she said the policies she calls for in her book are “mostly constitutional”.

Hi. I hate gays. And spending. I wrote a book about it. No, I won’t talk about it. But I’m trying to sell the book. I also got the witch thing wrong, but I won’t talk about it.

WTF?? You are a politician. You pose a standard, a belief, a method. You’re getting grilled on it no matter what. Even if you’re talking about banning pencil erasers.

COD, MB and SP are a HUGE call out to intelligent women to take the reins and shut them out.

Notice he still showed the book and said it was good after she left?

If a politician is this screwed up like COD, you have to understand that once you leave your little world, you’re in everyone else’s. She comes from a “I don’t like this-- neither do I, let’s hug!” kind of world. The world is not a fundie church or an okay-to-be-uneducated kind of place.

[CO’D] That’s a lie, I’ve never master debated (not even that night when I didn’t get drunk while wearing that [del]sexy[/del] ladybug outfit and didn’t get laid )! [/CO’D]

CMC fnord!

Wow. If you’re making Piers Morgan look really good by comparison, you’ve got a real problem.

Have you got a speech impediment? She doesn’t DO that.

O’Donnell is younger, kind of cute, and clearly rock stupid. Bachmann is the older one whose eyes scream “I JUST BOILED AMERICA’S BUNNY!!!”.

serious question here.

Piers Morgan is not considered a heavy hitter over in the UK when it comes to political interviewing.
It seems like all he did was ask the questions that the book’s content suggested. Pretty standard technique.

So where do the US political elite get properly grilled?

Over here we have PMQ’s every week and others such as “Question Time” and “Newsnight” that have everyone on bar the PM fairly regularly.

Do you have the equivalent in the US? I’d be interested in seeing the top tier of US politicians being properly questioned in an uncontrolled environment. I’m sure it must happen but it never seems to make over this side of the pond.

“Meet the Press” is a weekly interview show that does a reasonably good job of this.

Good, no one else answered. Remember at the beginning, when Sgt. Angel is checking into the hotel? He’s confronted with the older woman practically spitting “Fascist” at him. Later, you find out it’s because of the crossword puzzle she’s doing. (The answer’s actually “fascism” as Angel notes.) Then he gives her the answer for another clue at the end of the vignette, “Hag.” During the battle in the square there’s a callback to it when she calls him a fascist and he calls her a hag.

Love love love Hot Fuzz.

I was watching Anderson Cooper Live 360 when Piers came on before the actual airing of his show and he was telling Anderson what had happened. At first with what they played of it I did think only that O’Donnell had simply made a fool of herself yet again. But out of curiosity I watched Piers show in it’s entirity and I gotta say he was focusing not really on her book but instead on showing clips of most every embarassing thing she’s ever done or said. For example he kept quizzing her on masturbation due to some show she’d done on MTV years before, in short constantly focusing on keeping her in a bad light and hoping maybe she’d gaffe again on his show.

My take was that neither one of them came out of this looking very good. She is a foolish chatterer and hasn’t a sensible take on most policy issues. Piers was kind of a dick and never let her be comfortable and go to the points she thought she was there to discuss. I’m not too interested in catching much from either one of them again anytime soon.

Btw, did anyone else see Anderson get the giggles talking about Gerard Depardue? That was pretty frikkin’ amusing.

Is she a fascist?

the big scary shadow person was interesting.

this way she get a clip or two on every show, while only going on one show. winning!!

Was Christine O’Donnell invited on the Piers Morgan show so that she could be confronted with salacious and sensationalistic questions based on things she’s said in the past? Of course she was! Do you think anyone gives a shit about her views on spending or taxes or the constitutionality of pretty much anything.

She has never uttered an intelligent thing on the TeeVee … ever. She spent the first 10 minutes of the interview admitting that she fucked up pretty much every appearance she’s ever made. So why the hell would anyone listen to her in the first place?

An agreement that he would only ask what she wanted him to ask? Horse balls! If she’s so stupid to think it was going to be nothing but an infomercial for her book, then it’s her own friggin’ fault for coming off like the extreme moron she is.

I have no idea who this Morgan character is, but a subject that begins “Christine O’Donnell walks off piers” promises much more than this thread delivers.

Well, Katie Couric is a real pit bull when it comes to interviewing politicians. She blew the lid off the whole what-newspapers-do-you-read thing a few years ago.

Actually, all it really shows is that she has spent too much time in the comforting bosoms of Fox News.

63.7% of all Americans believe O’Donnell’s position on the questions she will and won’t answer is the correct position.

Only 54.8% believe I made that figure up.
