Christmas Birthdays: Great or Ripoff

I think that your daughter will dig it as years go by. It’s something that makes her unique. I also think that having a party in June is a great idea. Makes her less likely to feel that she’s missing out.

Hey, Tommy

Got the nickname Elkman from a cartoon strip called “Hollenhead” by Sabin Streeter. In my younger (shudder) days, I dressed like the Elkman (sans antlers), I listened to The Doors, and ate codfish, just like the Elkman. I also tended to be a freeloader, just like the Elkman. Friend of mine saw the resemblance, bought me the book, and I’ve been Elkman ever since. Great cartoon; it was in the Yale newspaper.

To keep some semblance of thread continuity, I talked to my daughter tonight (she’s 8), and her birthday is 12/31/1992. She loves having her birthday on New Years Eve because people have mostly forgotten about Xmas, and she can pretend the fireworks are just for her.

12/28/71 here…It reeked. Esspecially since I often got the xmas+bday present. Then, when my brothers and sisters bdays swung around, they got a lot of stuff, which I missed out on.

I was born on December 24th.

As a kid, I didn’t mind so much because we’d always celebrate it a month early.

Now as an adult, I’m beginning to dislike it. Life has become so busy that my birthday has become overlooked.

I have sympathy in my plight however, my wife’s birthday is Dec 26th.

At least I’ll get a cool wardrobe.
