Merry Birthday and a Happy Christmas!

Over in this thread, Tommy the Cat mentioned that his Birthday was on Christmas Day.

My birthday is also on Christmas (which, as I am sure TtC will back me up on, SUCKS!) My dog was born on Halloween and my Sisters Birthday falls on Mothers day every few years.

I was wondering what other Dopers have Holiday Birthdays!?!

Me: Memorial Day, every few years.

Mr. S: Columbus Day, every few years (but not this year – it’s today!).

I was born on Christmas. And so was one of my sisters. (No, we’re not twins–different years.)

I was a Good Friday baby… My birthday now frequently hits GF or Easter.

I was born on Father’s Day, and that coincides every so often.

My dad’s birthday is on Christmas. So as not to confuse us kids about the difference between my dad’s b-day and the holiday, we used to celebrate his b-day a week or 2 early every year and try to surprise him each time. Now it’s a family tradition to try to surprise him about when his birthday party is going to be.

I recently learned that Baker and I share a holiday birthday - December 31. Someone once asked me my birthdate and when I said, “New Year’s Eve” he said, “Really? Every year?”

When I was little, one aunt always tried to get away with the “here’s your combination Christmas-birthday gift” routine. Mom got even one year by giving her kids their birthday presents in April and June and reminding the aunt that, “those are their Christmas presents, too.” I love my Mommy for that.

I was born on Decembet 12. It is far enough from Christmas that I get seperate gifts for Christmas and my Birthday.

If my birthday’s on a Tuesday (Well, look at that! It is!), it’s on Election Day. Yippee. There isn’t even anything to vote for around here this year, so I don’t consider it to be much competition most of the time. I’m glad my birthday was over before the whole debacle last year, though.

My birthday synchs up with Thanksgiving on occasion. This year? No.
-Rue.

Not really but I was born on my sister’s first birthday.

I was born on George Washington’s birthday? Does that count as a holiday? Not really, but it is listed in the calendar.

As a Canadian, I’m not really the authority on this sort of thing… but I’ll let this post stay (like I could do anything about it! :()

GW was an important guy, his Birthday should be a holiday!

Man, I don’t catch a thread where I’m mentioned by name by the OP. What’s up with that?

Having a birthday on Christmas isn’t the best way to do things. My mom, dad, and sister usually wouldn’t remember it was my birthday till after lunch or so. I just about never get a birthday card, present, cake, etc. (although my wife makes a special effort to make sure my birthday is celebrated, she’s the best).

I don’t know if I would say it sucks, but, then again, I’ve had 30 of them to get used to it.

I’d say that the people who have it worst are the people born on Feb. 29 during leap years. Although, it would be a hell of a way to win bets.

There is a mathematical equation I have worked out for the “sucky-ness” of having a Christmas Birthday.

Let Presents Recieved = (PR)
Let Presents Given = (PG)
Let Total Gains = (TP)
Let # of Gift worthy Friends (and Relatives) = (GWF)
Let Double Gifters = “Go to hell!” (DG)

Therefore:

(GWF)*2=(PG) <–One for Christmas and one on their B-Day
(GWF)*1=(PR) <–One for Christmas AND my B-Day
(GWF)=(DG) <–So are they actually “Gift Worthy?”
(PG)-(PR)=-(TP)

Example:

152=30
15
1=15
15 of my close friends can “go to hell” [sub]not really… but it makes my variable declaration funny…[/sub]
30-15=-15

Well, it doesn’t always go that badly…

The thread title reminds me of George Harrison on the last Beatles Christmas Album chanting:

Happy Christmas
Happy Christmas
Christmas Christmas
Happy Happy

Sometimes my birthday falls on President’s Day. It did this year…

My eldest sister’s birthday is on Halloween. My birthday is on Mother’s Day, occasionally.

My son was born January 13. He was due January 1. I’m glad he showed up late, as it is he sometimes gets combined Christmas/birthday presents.

This reminds me of something I heard a long time ago… Hans Christien Andersen ‘gave’ his birthday to a child born on Christmas. Aww!

Anyone feel like giving me their Birthday?

Please!?!? :frowning:

Sure. You can have mine. How do you feel about celebrating your birthday on February 22nd? To be completely fair, I think you should also take my age too. You’ll be 33.
