I put mine up, complete with the tree yesterday.
When do you guys put your decorations up?

The tree has been up for weeks; we had to test-assemble it to make sure it had all its branches (we bought it really cheap at a flea market, so it was a reasonable suspicion). After we got it up we were far too lazy to take it back down. It’s been sitting in the living room, bare, ever since.
I have my holiday tablecloth out, but it’s kinda neutral and could be used for Thanksgiving as well. I also have several penguin things scattered and some candles out, but everything else - including the ornaments on the tree - waits until next week.
If we’re not taking a trip in December, the tree goes up right after Thanksgiving. Otherwise, it has to wait until we’re back.
Goes up the first Sunday in Advent, comes down on Epiphany. Easy. Except when I get lazy and put it off, and it ends up coming down sometime before Ash Wednesday.
Our cats won’t let us have a tree. I do a few little decorations, about two weeks before Christmas. I get burned out on it very quickly. My mother-in-law put hers up on Halloween. Ick.
Tree goes up on my birthday (Dec 17) and comes down New Years Day
My apartment is too small for a tree this year…plus with my move coming up early in the New Year, I wanted to limit my Christmas decorations this year. USUALLY…i go all out! My limited decorations have been up for almost two weeks now though.
Christmas decorations don’t go up till the 1st of December, and the tree (plus some more intensive decorations) doesn’t go up until 10-14 days before the day itself. By January 1st, I’m more than ready to fling the tree out the door–I don’t know how other people can stand having it up for a month or more!
This is the first year I have put them up before Thanksgiving. I collect Santa stuff, and I figured I have a lot of money invested in them and I want to enjoy them for more than 3 weeks.
Yeah, as much fun as decorating is… there is something theraputic about reclaiming the house after the holidays!
Yes, by December 26th, I am in to putting all the Santa stuff away and putting the “regular” stuff back out.
Normally I put up my tree Thanksgiving weekend. I try to do it at a time when my nieces are visiting so they can do the labor and I supervise.
We have one strand of lights, which has been up since last Christmas, but not plugged in. I am waiting to Dec 1st to plug them in…they’ll be nice as I study for my exams on the 2nd!
We plan on getting a 12 inch mini-tree this year, just for fun. Probably that weekend, or the one after (the 6th-7th).
My mom puts lights up at home mid-December, and doesn’t usually get a tree until about a week and a half before Christmas, because she gets a live one. We go out to the tree farm and cut one down. The owner is a family friend, and usually only charges about 10$, regardless of the tree size. We tend to give him 20$, though! I hope to be home in time to go get the tree again this year!
Started on the house yesterday.
Will continue tomorrow (would have been today, but it’s too windy for me to get on the roof).
Will probably take a week to get most of the lights up and then a day or two for the blow molds.
I hope to switch it all on around Sunday 30/11 (on a timer) so when we come home from the inlaws my little girl will be able to see it all on at night.
It gets dark here around 9-9:30pm so it’s after the little ones bedtime.
