This is so utterly perfect in so many ways that I have emailed this link to everybody on my email list. My son was so impressed with it that he dug around and found The Abominable “O Holy Night”: Revealed which just adds to the mystique of it all. Everlasting thanks for this monster!
Don’t play this if you can’t stand the word we can not use on this board. Oh it also says Fuck a lot too.
The entire A Very Scary Solstice collection (Cthulhu-mythos based holiday carols) including:
It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Fish-Men
Carol of the Old Ones
Freddy the Red-Brained Mi-Go
and that timeless holiday classic: I Saw Mommy Kissing Yog-Sothoth.
We can’t say the C word? When did that happen? Recently? Because of that Eat, Pray, Love thread?
My contribution:
That’s not John Fahey - it’s someone playing in a similar style on a Fahey-autographed guitar. Here are The John Fahey Christmas Album and The New Possibility: John Fahey’s Guitar Soli Christmas Album. There are versions of Silent Night on each.
Another good source of unusual Christmas music is We Three Kings by The Roches.
Thanks for those Fahey links. Unfortunately the only YouTube clip I could locate with that Fahey sound was the one with the Faux-Fahey player. The sound was what I was after and I thank you for pointing out what I had failed to: that it was not the real thing. We have the first of those CD’s you linked to and it’s wonderful.
We also have several jazzy Christmas CD’s that I also couldn’t locate on YouTube. However, this thread has brought me much joy with other alternatives. Many thanks to Lute Skywatcher for starting it and for all the great contributions by so many others!
I’m bumping this back up to where it’s useful.

That’s Paul Di’Anno, doesn’t sound like Maiden at all. I think it comes from an album called Metal Christmas
Bob Dorough and Miles Davis
Blue Xmas.
Thanks. I just saw it while looking for something else and thought of this thread.
Allmusic agrees with you (I looked up Paul Di’Anno because I’d never heard of him; not because I didn’t believe you). Also found the song was written by (among others) Gary Glitter. Yeah, that’s some metal right there, that is!!
Shouldn’t Have Given Him a Gun For Christmas - Wall of Voodoo.
I had forgotten to say that Di’Anno was the first singer for Maiden so that’s probably what confused people. Written by Gary Glitter huh, that’s a riot.
