Christmas Songs?

“Spotlight on Christmas” by Rufus Wainright

The Little Boy That Santa Claus Forgot

Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas… with the ORIGINAL Lyrics!

Rule #1: avoid any song that mentions Christmas shoes.

Santa baby

If she has a sexy voice, it’s an awesome song.

Google “Carols for a Cure.” Always glad to get in a plug for these.

My favourite version of the Carol of the Bells – many people do not know it has words

That would be truly impressive if my friend could pull that off by herself.

A sci-fi Christmas song? Chiron Beta Prim by Jonathan Colton

Or maybe the greatest rock Christmas sone evar!

I Wish it could be Christmas Everyday by Wizard

Or the second greatest rock Christmas song evar!

Snoopy’s Christmas by the Royal Guardians.

One of my favorites is The Spirit of Christmas by Ray Charles. Made popular by the movie “Christmas Vacation.”

Does anyone know if Bonnie Raitt has a Christmas song?

If she’d like a non-traditional carol, how about “The Peace Carol”? Not overwhelmingly common, has an unusual meter and structure, and you can go understated or operatic with it according to your style and abilities.

The Band Christmas Must Be Tonight never gets any play but I’ve always liked it.

Here’s a radio station’s compilation of the best 100 Christmas Songs of all time

Some traditional songs but a lot of more recent compositions too, including:

Happy Christmas (War is Over) by John Lennon and Yoko Ono
*Pretty Paper *by Roy Orbison
*Wonderful Christmastime *by Paul McCartney
Step Into Christmas by Elton John
Give Love on Christmas Day by The Jackson Five

However, the list doesn’t include my two favorites (not counting Bruce Springsteen’s version of “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” or anything silly like “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch”)

Please Come Home for Christmas by The Eagles
*2000 Miles * by The Pretenders

“Jingle Bell Rock”!

I love this song Nothin’ For Christmas by Eartha Kitt.

Me, too. I’m looking forward to watching all the You Tube videos here at work and have my bosses wondering if I’ve lost my ever-loving mind (since it’s September 30th, after all).

Winter by The Mello Men and Spike Jones is certainly not your typical “Christmas” song. I’m also partial to Driving Home for Christmas by Chris Rea.

Take a look at #39.

How is “2000 Miles” by the Pretenders a Christmas song?

IIRC, it doesn’t specifically reference Christmas, but I agree that it always makes me think of Christmas/winter when I hear it.

Jona Lewie’s Stop the Cavalry.

(Has become considered Christmas song, although it’s not precisely a song about Christmas beyond the protagonist’s desire to be home in time for it).
