So many Christopher Lee moments to choose from, but this one is so odd that I’ll start the birthday thread with it:

As a particularly good Dracula (short clip followed by montage).
Go Chris, it’s your birthday!
That’s as scary as his Hammer Horror films!
I do like him singing this version of “Ghostriders In The Sky.” It doesn’t sound much like him but it would seem to be true, from the album Sings Devils, Rogues & Other Villains (From Broadway To Bayreuth And Beyond).
One of my favorites, other than Lord of the Rings, is The Wicker Man from 1973. I love this scene, where he totally freaks out the god-fearing policeman.
This gives me chills: Christopher Lee and the Verse of the Rings
Happy Birthday Christopher, still going strong!
One thing that stuck with me is that because of his experience as a commando in WWII, he knew exactly how Saruman would react when stabbed in the back.
Not an Olivier or Barrymore, nor did/does he pretend to be; but in his own way, one of the memorable actors of his time.
I’m a sucker for the cheesy werewolf movies “The Howling” and its sequels.
I couldn’t find any better clips, but here’s Christopher Lee in Howling II.
To the best of my recollection, I first saw Christopher Lee when my JHS screened Dracula Has Risen from the Grave, and he defined the role for me. But my all-time fave Lee performance is in The Wicker Man!
Oh yeah, Wicker Man. I tried to find the clip of Lord Summerisle and Miss Rose singing but it doesn’t seem to be out there.
Instead, here he is as Rochefort in The Three Musketeers
Happy birthday! And he does look awfully good for 90. I wonder what his secret is.
You have to wonder?
I’m not wondering so much as hinting.
I was up at Seattle Center today and saw an Imax movie about mummies. I spent the entire movie thinking to myself “Wait, is that Christopher Lee narrating?”
I stayed for the credits in order to find out that, indeed, it was.
Happy birthday, Chris.
Christopher Lee and Vincent Price have the same birthday.
You’ll be hard pressed to find a free clip online being how fascist NBC has become about YouTube, but I loved his hosting of an early season episode of SNL (1977 I think). His opening monologue (“Dr. Terror’s House of Pancakes”), his first sketch playing death visiting a little girl (“No, the Romans did that…”) to his introduction of musical guest Meatloaf ("I’d like you to meet, Loaf!").
I recently watched that episode of SNL. I was surprised how funny he was - even a lot of the comedians who host can’t manage to be funny in their opening monologue. He came a cross as a little shy and very charming as well (the shy part also surprised me).
Great movie! In addition to Chrisopher Lee, it’s got: Charlton Heston, Faye Dunaway, Raquel Welch, Richard Chamberlin, Oliver Reed, Frank Finlay, and Michael York. What a cast!
He cracked me up playing the mean dentist dad in the willy wonka remake.
“Go ahead and leave. But if you come back, I wont be here”
Willy comes back, his entre childhood house is missing, apparently Wonka sr moved to Antarctica
