Chrome extension for saving a bookmarked page?

I’ve a modest collection of bookmarks collected over the years, but link rot has taken its toll. So what I’m looking for is an extension to Chrome to prevent that, such that when I bookmark a page it is automatically downloaded and saved. Does such exist? I don’t want to download the whole site, just the page.

You can:

  1. File -> save as the page.
  2. Save the whole page as a screenshot: Take Webpage Screenshots Entirely - FireShot - Chrome Web Store
  3. Archive it at webcitation.org: http://www.webcitation.org/archive

Well yes, but I was hoping for a one-click or automatic way to save a local HTML or PDF copy.

I use an application called Pocket. It is a web app with clients for the common platforms.

It has an extension for Chrome and other browsers that puts a button on your browser. When you are on a page you want to save, just click this button and it saves the entire page to Pocket. It saves it in a “cleaned up” format with no ads, sidebars, etc.
If you want to view the page in its original format, it saves the link and you can view the original page, like a normal bookmark.

I’ve been using this for several years now, and I virtually never use ordinary bookmarks anymore.
