You might not be. The thing is, if a shitty behavior is normalized in a group, it’s kind of on group members to speak up against it and help make it not normalized. That’s how things change.
Why not just ban him from talking about women’s issues, period, rather than specify something? Because his hatred goes beyond women and sports.
(If you’re not going to out and out ban him, that is)
So you are in favor of ending the pitting of members? All the Pit is for is a chance for people to act shitty to other members. In your words, the shitty behavior has been normalized.
No, that’s not “all the Pit is for”, even ignoring the pittings of outsiders - the Pit is also a place for members to actually point out shitty behaviour by members in other forums.
Are you going to be raising this non-issue in every unrelated ATMB thread, BTW?
If the majority of people agree with a viewpoint and it’s considered normal, then it’s not really objectively “shitty”, is it?
I’d say something like, say, ripping hearts out for the gods is objectively shitty even if even the sacrifices think it’s normal.
Do they agree with having their hearts ripped out, though? That’s the difference. If they don’t, that’s very different to having an outsider show up and say “This is horrible and shitty”.
They agree with the general case of heart-ripping, even if they’re a little fuzzy on the specific case of their heart. Heart-ripping on the whole is normalized. And in general, my understanding is they went along with the heart-ripping in their specific case, even if they didn’t like the outcome.
My understanding is most of the sacrifices in Aztec culture were war prisoners and definitely not on board with the whole “having hearts ripped out” thing and weren’t going along with it voluntarily.
One of the main reasons they had their Flower Wars was for both sides to get sacrifices. They were thus de facto totally down with heart-ripping as a concept.
It’s their fault for voting for the Ripping-People’s-Hearts-Out-of-Their-Chests Party.
“I didn’t think jaguars would rip my heart out of my chest…”
Since we have a combination of drifting too far away from the original topic of this thread plus some folks bringing unrelated issues here, this is closed.
