Last week saw a fine return to form, with some great stunt casting in the persons of Angie Harmon and especially Brandon Routh. What could be better than having Superman join the show? Well, how about Lana Lang:
Chuck goes on his first solo mission to Paris; on the flight, Chuck flashes on another passenger.
I’m a little disappointed that Superman did not, in fact, meet Lana Lang in this episode. Still, I’m happy that Kristin Kreuk is going to be sticking around. Sarah is going to have a little competition, it seems.
The Buy More storyline was a little more conventional, but it was exactly in character for Casey to defend the establishment.
I love TV airplanes, which have an accessible cargo hold that it seems anyone can get into without having the plane diverted, and said cargo holds have enough room for a sword fight.
Fortunately, my suspension of disbelief is strong and I enjoyed the episode.
I’m catching up on these from earlier in the year. I didn’t know that the guy who plays Shaw had been in the movies as Superman. When I saw him I said to my wife “They’ve got Clark Kent on the show now?” (he was wearing glasses)
I’m in lust with Kristin Kreuk. I think that may now officially have too many beautiful women on the show between Hannah, Ellie and Sarah.
BTW, I see a credit listed for Julia Ling in this episode (Anna), but didn’t notice her. Did I miss something or is she gone from the show now?
Julia Ling isn’t in the show credits and is no longer with the show. In the season premiere, Morgan mentioned something about Anna Wu leaving him for a benihana chef.
Weird thing: my little girl is almost 3, and she loves the Christopher Reeve Superman movie. She wandered into the room when I was watching the previous episode of Chuck, watched it with me for a bit, and while Brandon Routh was on the screen, out of nowhere she said, “Daddy, I wanna watch Superman.” She’s never seen the version Routh was in; I guess he just really looks a lot like Superman.
Wasn’t the conditioning of Lester also based on something specific? Not quite A Clockwork Orange, it felt more specifically familiar than that. A little bit One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest, perhaps, especially as Chuck refers to the Buy More as an insane asylum.
Oh yeah, you noticed that too? I picked up on it right away, even before he put on the glasses (I never saw his version of Superman, btw). I had to point it out to my husband, who sat there for a moment before going, “Ohhhhhhhh!”
It was a pleasure to see Lana too. I’d wondered what she’d been doing after leaving Smalltown.
