Chuck (10/13) "Chuck vs the Breakup"

Consider what happens when Chuck’s head goes “obsolete”. The “retirement plan” leaves a bit to be desired, so extending his sell-by date gives him more of a chance to get out alive.

Here’s something I’m not certain of:

When Captain Awesome talks to Bryce, he mentions that he’s Chuck’s future brother-in-law. It seemed to me that Bryce misinterpreted that and inferred that Chuck and Sarah were (or were about to be) engaged. Yet there was no followup, and really it would mean Bryce thought Awesome was Sarah’s brother, which surely he’d know wasn’t so.

What do you think?

I don’t think Bryce made that mistake. He knows Chuck lives with his sister. I think Bryce made the correct assumption.

The only thing about that scene is, if your brother, Sarah and this Bryce guy all show up at your hospital and Sarah & Bryce have injuries, wouldn’t you ask “what were three up to???”

After Chuck fell backward, there was a closeup of the side of the glasses (with some electrical shorting out going on?), and I think the implication was that Bryce updated Chuck from the chip they retrieved from living-in-a-Lamborghini-guy.

Of course, that begs the question on how Bryce could get possession of the chip (when it was supposed to be going to the brass in Washington), and wire it into a pair of sunglasses (although maybe all CIA agents have sunglasses displays with flexible “insert data chip here” slots), and get Chuck’s retinal pattern for the ocular verification, and get it to dump all the data to Chuck.

(thinking) I rarely come right out and flatly disagree with a person but no, you have that one wrong. Perhaps a bit blandly perfect, especially when she turns on her blank face (it’s in character), but the moment she commits to an expression she becomes luminous.

Ah! Your tastes have been formed by popular culture’s idea of manufactured beauty and a woman who isn’t burdened by plastic ballast and looks like she isn’t wearing much makeup confuses you!

You realize that this is the show in which Bryce, in the pilot episode, sent the entire contents of the original Intersect to Chuck via an email attachment, cleverly disguised as a text adventure game?

Another good line:

“Don’t encourage him!”

For me, what makes Strahovski/Walker super hot is her teeth. Yeah, they’re not straight, but damn, they are cute, and they pull everything else together. When she smiles, it makes me feel funny inside.

Not only that, but Bryce did that after John Casey had shot him and he was supposedly dying.

What surprises me is that Captain Awesome actually lives up to his nick without being annoyingly perfect. He took romantic advice from Morgan, remember?

Since Bryce and Chuck were roommates at Stanford, it seems logical to me that Ellie would’ve met Bryce, although I don’t recall them stating as much. When she saw Sarah and Bryce at Orange Orange, she only saw part of his face, IIRC. When Ellie saw Bryce at the hospital, he was wearing his sunglasses. If Ellie, not Awesome, had tended to Bryce’s injury, then Chuck might have had some ‘splainin’ to do since Bryce’s cover is that he’s dead.

I enjoy the show, but I’m all about the spy stuff. I’ve found myself fast-forwarding through all the Buy More-Morgan-Lester-as-new-manager stuff in the last couple eps. Just not interesting to me. Am I alone?

Yes. They could spin off the Buy More guys and I’d watch that, too.

Nah, Chuck needs an anchor - especially Morgan, who would do anything for him.

A wizard did it. Presumably the same wizard who made the first chip (that Fulcrum sabotaged) explode an entire room with the force of fifty pounds of explosives.

Quite.

The whole idea about the show is Downloading the Whole History of the SDMB, all threads evah, into one hamster brain, through a text message. If you’re tuning your suspension of disbelief that low (and I am), then setting up Thunderdome in the break room, or having a PCI card destroy a building, is no great leap for the imagination.

**Chuck **is silly when it comes to logic and science. I like that.
