Chuck (11/17): "Chuck vs the Fat Lady"

This week, we see both Sarah and Jill strip down to their undies. Such blatant fanservice is just one of the reasons I love this show so much. There’s also the sometimes subtle geek culture references, like Vogon poetry and “What’s Opera, Doc?” Of course, Chuck getting the girl was too good to last. I just know that Bryce Larkin is somehow behind this.

Viva Buymorea!

Overall, a pretty good episode. And Casey hitting the high C was honestly the funniest thing I’ve seen in a long time. I rewound that and watched that over and over. Also his line “what? I wasn’t hatched.” Fun episode.

I was really hoping they were pulling our chain with the scene where obviouslyJill was going to turn out to be Fulcrumbecause it’s such an obvious trope & they were so obviously setting it up.

Damn that Jill Roberts!

Also, I’m gonna steal one of Casey’s lines from this episode: “I’m not even interested in my own feelings.”

I have a feeling that when he took Jill into the secret base, it was a riff on when Vicki Vale was taken to the Batcave.

ETA: SPOILERS AHOY.

“There’s absolutely no sexy glamour in this jo-o. Oh.”

Casey hitting the high C took me out of the blue. I thought they were setting us up for an obvious merit-pissing contest between Jill and Sarah. Casey high-noting it hit it out of the park, I was laughing so hard. And his “Choir boy.” -“What? I wasn’t hatched.” lines were perfectly delivered. I also liked his deliberate crassness against Sarah in the middle.

“Looks like he’s found himself a new ass-ett, indeed.”

Brilliant ep, though I am of course let down by the upcoming abrupt end to the Jill relationship. I thought her and Chuck had brilliant chemistry, although some of the gags felt like rehash from season 1.

You know the poor sap’s never going to get a chance to be happy or normal.

With all the crap Chuck’s being put through, if I was him I’d just defect to North Korea. Or off myself.

I laughed when Casey said “Nerd code!”

And him hitting the high C was hilarious.

This show has easily become my favorite. Great, funny writing and lovely looking ladies. I too loved the Vogon poetry reference and “What’s Opera Doc” playing in the background. And of course, Sarah/Strahovski in the shower, wow!! Very sexy but still tastefully done.

I only quoted this as you covered most of what I was going to say. It was one of the best shows of the series after one of the weakest.

I loved the Vogon Poetry line and all the puzzles and tricks. Not only did I laugh when I saw “What’s Opera, Doc?” in the background but both of my kids did too. Sadly I think we all knew that Jill was going to be a bad agent or at least working for them. The Buymoria stuff was great. You’ll note that I heard it just slightly different from you.

What was Casey’s throwaway line after the High C? “I wasn’t hatched you know” That line got me.

Great episode last night. Last week through some creative editing on the previews, they made it look like the show was going to take a different path. I guess that’s pretty typical though.

Also, Emmett is quickly becoming one of my favorite characters.

I didn’t see the preview for next week, but I’m guessing Bryce will come back into this story soon. I wonder if he planted Jill in Fulcrum as his own double agent.

So, did he actually hit a high C? I mean, I know the character did, but to those of you with a better grasp of musical notes than what I have (none at all), did Baldwin actually sing the high C?

I went back and checked, and it was not a high C. It was E below high C. No idea if Adam Baldwin actually sang the note, however.

This ep was one memorable line after another.

Speaking of fanservice, the OP forgot to mention Chuck in the shower. Only thing missing was Chuck & Casey in the shower.

Especially after last week’s kiss.

This show is really working well this year.

Seemed easily googlable to me.

(shrugging) You KNOW he is! My Latest Rule of Thumb: The cuter guy is ALWAYS trying to f**k over the Hero. And though I am straight I can see that Chuck is adorable, but Bryce goes WAY beyond that.
