Chuck - 2 Episodes were on Thursday 1-24-08

Did anyone else catch these two episodes?

I had no clue they were on, but I had set my DVR up to record any new episodes of Chuck. They were on at 8pm & 10pm.

Both episodes were good, Captain awesome figured prominently in both with his relationship to Elly.

There was several hot cat fights.

Lots of humor and a nice homage to Casablanca in the first episode.

Jim

My DVR caught them both as well.

I’m wondering where the series is going to go after the last episode. Chuck’s public exposure is getting really dangerous for the intersect, but life at the Buy More is at least half the story. Unless Team Chuck is ready to go directly after Fulcrum.

I keep thinking it might be time for some basic weapons training and oh, btw, are the feds paying Chuck a salary yet?

No I missed it. Stupid boyfriend said there was nothing new on TV and brought over a dvd, Good Luck Chuck. I would definitely have preferred watching the TV Chuck. I discovered we missed it when we turned the TV back on and saw the last few minutes of Chuck. I guess I am going to have to start checking the TV listings myself. Anyone know if it will repeat any time soon?

Yeah, I caught the eps. Very cute, lovable show.

“You’re no hot-dog maker!”
“Bring it on, pita-girl!”

I don’t know when it’s going to rerun, but you can catch the whole episodes at the ABC website.

Such a great exchange. I cracked up laughing at that one.

I thought the first episode was great, and the second one was good.

Did anyone catch the little commercials with the actors between segments? They were very funny and engaging.

Is this show getting poor ratings and in trouble of cancellation? Because the whole stunt of running two episodes in one evening sandwiched around an episode of Celebrity Apprentice with commercials featuring the actors seemed like something almost desperately designed to attract viewers.

No, the show is actually doing okay in the ratings and with critical review.

I am still trying to figure out where these two episodes came from? Where the scripts written before the strike?

They were cute. I think one mentioned more new episodes coming up. Did you hear that?

Jim

NBC. Chuck’s an NBC show.

All the scripted TV we’re watching right now was written before the strike. I am surprised that they ran two episodes on one night, though. You’d think they’d want to stretch out the episodes they do have as long as possible.

I was highly amused that they kept referring to the electronic bugs as “GLG-20s.”

GLG-20 was the top secret organization that Chevy Chase and Dan Aykroyd worked for in Spies Like Us.

Duh, :smack: I knew that! I probably goofed that up from watching Lost online.

That was my first worry too, but I read a few articles that say it’s doing well.

Did anyone else think that Ellie was being totally unfair to Awsome about the gift thing? She said “surprise me” and he was supposed to know that meant picking the item she wanted? Poor Awesome, it reminds me of a recent thread about birthdays.

Actually that is exactly how a woman tells a man that you will buy what I want or you will suffer the consequences. It is a form of test. (At least in the world of fictional TV & movies, not so much in the real world.) Captain Awesome failed the test. Then he made good.

What I think is interesting is the slight role reversal the show used very casually. Instead of the Jock wanting the big screen TV, it was the woman. The Jock wanted the washer & drying to eliminate trips to the laundromat. This was a subtle little thing compared to every typical stupid sitcom, but I appreciated it.

Of course in my house it is usually me pushing the purchase of any gadget. I think my wife only went out of her way for the coffee maker.

It’s sad how long it took me to catch on to the Casablanca nods. Even after noticing that Casey’s “depressed watching a movie” scene included several shots of the film, it wasn’t until just before the end that everything clicked.

“Heh, Ilsa has to get on the plane with Victor…<mental click>…OMG!” :smack:

The realization was literally seconds before Chuck’s “You’ll always have Chechnia” and “this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship” lines (which pretty much gave it away). I half expected Casey to launch into a “hill of beans” spiel.

The knock down was so much more in character and goes along with the way the show makes fun of itself.

Jim

I gotta know…who was Pita-Girl? And I weep for the poor ladies who allowed their boobies to be filmed…

Ok, adolescent drooling out of the way, these were great episodes. Moved the plot, had funny jokes, and we even got to see the softer side of Casey. “It lives!”
