Navy blue, high top, canvas, honest to God, Chuck Taylor All Stars, that is! Yes, much to my suprise, the shoe of my youth is still being made. I saw someone wearing a pair, and she told me they had them at Foot Locker. Needless to say, I went immediately to Foot Locker. I haven’t had a pair of these since I was 18! (shudder almost 1/2 my life ago!) Needless to say, they look GOOD!. Angels apeared and sang the hallejulia chorus when I put them on. My feet feel like they are 18 again. I GOT CHUCKS!!!
I wear low top black. exclusively. The last time Converse filed for bankruptcy, I went to Foot Locker and bought 4 pairs. I think I may need to buy more, though.
Ask and ye shall recieve. Just go to http://www.vans.com
Under shop online click shoes. Then select Mens/classics. VIOLA! They even have checkered slipons! Now chas, would you like some JAMS to go with your vans?
I have hi-tops again after years of low-tops. I found I prefer the low-tops. But I love the Chucks. There’s nothing else like them.
Have you seen non-chuck tennis shoes these days? Not only do you have to mortgage your house for a pair, they also look like you just stepped out of some kind of bondage tenticle rape anime. They’re hideously stupid looking.
Red high-tops - the footwear of choice for me in high school. I remember they came out with all sorts of funky variations - pastel colors, denim with red plaid lining (foldover tops), camo, buncha others. I should go get another pair sometime. I miss 'em.
Now if I’d only known about the hammer-and-sickle Doc Martens back then…
Cool! I’ve got a friend in the US searching for some for me, I’ll tell her to check Foot Locker. My last pair are pretty tatty, only suitable for cutting the grass or wading in rivers. As a kid I had both camo and stars & bars versions. You can see the stars & bars here
I always secretly wanted some red chucks, but my feet are size 12 and narrow - they already look like clown feet without me making them look moreso. So it’s standard black for me.
I had a pair of pseudo-Chucks (hot pink) back in high school, but being the conformist that I was, I was too worried about what people would think if I wore them.
I love my black One stars (that’s what we call them here in my neck of the woods) I have gone through so many of these shoes!!! My most fave pair was my bright red ones I had in the 7th grade, I used to wear one red one & one black one! Or one pink one & one yellow! I was an oddly dressed kid!
Speaking of classic skate shoes…
I still have a pair of high top Vision Street Wear skull print that I bought for $50 in the sixth grade. & yes I can still wear them & I’m 25!
