Chumlee in Pawn Stars

The problem is they don’t get enough rare books and thus she isn’t on there enough.

Are the guys sporting more tattoos this season? Don’t seem to remember the sleeve tats on Big Hoss. Same with that Danielle on American Pickers, Did she always have that elaborate chest tattoo?

I’m not sure about Big Hoss but I’m pretty sure Danielle has always had that tattoo, at least she had it when I met her at the shop a couple years ago.

Hardcore Pawn or Lizard Lick Towing may be the bottom of the reality tv barrel.

World’s Worst Tenants promises to bring fresh tools to dig through the bottom of the barrel and into the warehouse floor.

I have entirely way too much time on my hands and rather than doing any actual work, I re-watched the 1st episode of Pawn Stars and both Chumlee and Corey have full arm sleeves on both arms. I grabbed some screencaps and posted them here. In my screengrabs, you can only see one arm on each - but in the final scene of the episode (when they’re firing a cannon) you can see that they have full sleeves on both arms.

Yeah, I think it’s more forewarned than actually scripted. I read somewhere (maybe a thread here?) that if you want to sell something on camera, you need to apply beforehand, since they only film on certain days. So it’s no stretch to believe that the show producers would tell the guys what things are coming in so that they can be prepared.

On the other hand, the non-buying parts, the bets, Rick and the old man giving Chumlee a hard time for buying a book without having the autograph checked out first, Hoss questioning why Rick is hanging up a gun instead of selling it, etc., those are all so painfully obviously scripted (or at least they’ve rehearsed it a few times before what we see). Those guys are just not actors.

It’s not a stretch, but on the other hand quite often Rick admits he has no knowledge of items that are brought in.

I couldn’t agree more. I do think that they are all charmingly awful, though.

There were also the episodes with the obvious product placement from Subway. I’m surprised they didn’t just break out into a full fledged commercial the way they kept saying ‘Subway’. Subway must have dropped their sponsorship though because they haven’t done that lately.

Which is what happened with the gun Corey caught him hanging in the office.

When I stopped in I did not see Rick or the old man. I I did see and speak briefly to chumlee… Nice guy not real bright but so what. I best I could say sounds dumb when speaking… Like half asleep slow… Burn out like but knows what he is talking about. I like meeting someone that looks like he lives on the street and turns out to be a programmer… My impression he plays it up on the show a little but to a large degree that is him.

Very scripted. The book is a good read though.

When trying to close the deal they will offer “cash money”. As opposed to what, variable annuities?
Likeable guys though which is why it works.

As opposed to a check.

Or store credit/trade?

Yes, I believe you get a higher amount for store credit. Seems like I’ve seen them offer that a couple of times.

Cash is always assumed unless the seller asks for store credit. It’s a silly “incentive”.

No, they mean CASH as in $100 bills right then as opposed to a check that takes some time to clear. That is a big incentive to some people.

And, although I could be wrong, I think cash is primarily mentioned when trying to close a deal away from the store.

No, cash is assumed. They even advertise that it’s a cash deal.

The cash thing is just a closing technique to get the seller to visualize the money in their hands.
