Chumpsky Is Blind

Er, unless of course the REAL AceOSpades chose to speak on the subject…

Or did I miss something, is AceOSpades now Ace of Swords?
My head hurts, and it’s ALL Chumpsky’s fault, for making Daoloth start this Pit thread…

Yup.

That’s the first post of his I’ve ever seen that didn’t find some way to bash Americans and/or capitalism.

He’s obviously slipping.

You forgot xenophobic, colonialist & exploitive

Cuntsky pretty much ruined the Venezuela thread with his insults and stupidity and when The Peyote Coyote called him a “waste of oxigen”, the mods warned The Peyote Coyote. It seems the rule in GD is you can call people liar but not waste of oxigen. That’s a stupid rule if ever I saw one. “Liar” is a worse insult than “waste of oxigen”. At any rate, and regardless of technicalities about vocabulary, the mods should have some judgment on who is disrupting the thread and not just apply silly rules without regard. Since the mods do have discretion and often remind us of that fact, at least it would be helpful if they used their powers for good and not for the protection of those who are disrupting the discussion.

It seems The Peyote Coyote lost his patience and told the mods to take a hike. I can understand his exasperation and hope this does not have consequences…

Ah, I see. In the specific case of Chump, I see that there is apparently nothing by which to test a belief. He provides no cites, no specifics, and no substance. Merely doggerel and demagoguery.

Actually, you know, Noam Chomsky is almost exactly the same.

Ogre:

*Clearly, you’ve not read much Chomsky. His printed works are almost always heavily footnoted, with extensive references.

Of course, with blinders on, that might be difficult to notice.

Just his linguistics stuff, or his political stuff too?

He is a world authority on linguistics, but his political rhetoric is just that…rhetoric. His shameful anti-US diatribes after 9/11 permanently labeled him as an idiot in my book.

And Mr. Svinlesha…do I know you, or was that little dig of yours made from an interpretation of one anti-Chomsky post?

I thought so.

Awww! I like Noam. He keeps the rest of us leftists honest. Hey, even I’ve agreed with Chomsky on (some) things. He’s quite an interesting read.

Oh, and just to clarify something. Chumpsky was (sort of) correct the first time he called me a liar. It wasn’t intentional, mind you, I simply misinterpereted what a congressman said on a radio show.

What’s strange, is even after I corrected myself, he continued to call me a liar. Eh?

Hmmm…well I do have this picture of him with his pants on fire

Errr…the difference between saying “you’re lying” and “you’re a liar” somehow escapes me…

Actually, I think Chumpsky was trying to bait you about the US condemning Iraqs use of chemical weapons during the Iraq/Iran war. I suspect he was just itching to point out that the US once vetoed a Security Council resolution condemning Iraq. You see, this makes the US look bad, especially if you’re not aware that we vetoed it on the grounds of some obscure language (I think it exempted guerrilla movements from condemnation) and that we allowed some eight resolutions condemning Iraq to pass.

Actually, David B clarified in the original thread (in the same post where he upbraided Peyote Coyote,) that calling someone a “liar” in GD is not necessarily against the rules.

Uncited or cited? I can’t imagine anyone can say “liar, liar,” and then move right on to some other point.

Just for clarification: Are we referring to the “this thread is thick with liars,” or the “Joe Schmoe is a liar” statement, or was there a third I missed in that headache of a thread?

Well, he did blush, and as we know, blush reddens your skin - so it is a manifestation against capitalism and for socialism from within!

Ace, here’s a link to the “liar” thread. The comments in question are down quite a ways.

In response to this thread:

Chumpsky: Regardless of how right or wrong either the Israelis or the Palestinians may or may not be acting, you, personally, are still a long string of Pit-worthy adjectives.

In my eyes, any relevant point you may make is totally incidental, and quickly loses any credibility when conjoined with all of the other useless drivel you spew on the board.

Growing up in Missouri, we had a saying:

That doesn’t make him smart enough to keep him from falling out of a tree and into the stewpot, though.

Ah, gotcha. So, it was the mistaken parenthetical aside that set him off? My goodness, if that’s all it takes, I suppose we are all liars.

Sounds like Noam could indeed take it down a notch.

I disagree with David B. As I stated in that thread: if somebody called me an “idiot” or even “schmuck” in a real life conversation, I wouldn’t like it but could take it in stride. But if somebody repeatedly called me a “liar”, I would be sorely tempted to punch him in the face. I consider that label an insult and more than an insult. It’s an accusation that I am a person who has no integrity or ethics. Calling someone a liar is an ad hominem attack in my book.
