In related news, Dem arrested at Eric Cantor (R-VA) event.
If this article is accurate (and I have no reason to doubt it), it would seem that the Democrat was at a Republican function, and when asked to leave the coffee shop by the owner of the shop, he refused to do so. That is when police were called, presumably by the owner.
I can’t see where Cantor or his campaign can be faulted in this case.
IOK to be a jackbooted thug IYAR. Move along, nothing to see here.

And whether the stompee could be said to look like a lesbian, therefore, getting stomped was just a way for a conservative tea bagger to extend equal rights to an oppressed minority because they would stomp the shit out of everybody equally!
(While a liberal would never stomp the shit out of anybody (but would really be thinking it!)
For a little bit of context, that woman ran up to Rand Paul’s car wearing a hoodie and a blond wig, and stuck a sign in his window.
ItemFix - Social Video Factory for video of it.
The “stomper” is saying she also rushed the car two other times.
see post #40
“Nice” “scare quotes”.
Folks, folks, folks. Didn’t you get the memo that anyone who makes the teabaggers look bad is by default an undercover liberal out to make the movement look bad.
Eventually it will be proposed that, along with race, disability, gender, sexual preference (included in some states); should be added “political views” to Hate Crime criteria. The arguments against it will be pretty transparent.
AWWWWW da poow wittel teabagger feels all butthurt now.
I hope he can get past this and see fit to extend his hand in a gesture of sincere apology and friendship [Triumph]FOR ME TO POOP ON!!![/Triumph]
First off, the Democrat in question took Cantor’s campaign at its word that supporters are encouraged to bring their “Friends, Family and Neighbors” to the public event. The man in question RSVP’d on the website. He had as much right to be there as Cantor himself.
And for you stupid motherfucks trying to hide behind the “private event” shit I have a question–does a sitting member of Congress represent his ENTIRE DISTRICT, or only the ones who agree with him? Eric Cantor is a duly elected public servant who is responsible for EVERY person in his constituency, not just the batshit insane teabaggers. ANY constituent has the right to address his/her member of congress regardless of who they voted for or who they intend on voting for in the next election. This manhandling is BULLSHIT.
Maybe when he goes to jail, his cellmate will see fit to show him what a real teabagging looks like.
You’re correct, up until the point where the owner of the property asks him to leave. Then he did not have the right to be there.
And if Cantor wants to be seen to be the sort of person who only will listen to constituents who voted for him and agree with him? Well, that is what he accomplished. Cantor has established himself as a Republican for Republicans only.
Really? So if I want to tell a black person to get outta my coffee shop because I don’t serve coffee to black people I can do that? My rights as a coffee shop owner maintaining a public space supercede the rights of my customers to use that public space I maintain? Think that would fly in a court?
The owner of a public space volunteered his space to be used by a sitting Congressman for a public meet & greet and nobody has yet said, let alone proven, that the man who was manhandled out the door had done anything other than existed as a Democrat in a public space. Nothing warranted the kind of response that poor fucker got. Check the video, it wasn’t what you might call “respectful.”
So as I understand it: he knocked her down, stomped on her face, slandered her name all over the place? Did everything that he wanted to do?
I’m pretty sure Mr. Taylor is not a member of a protected class. BZZZZZZT!
Please try again.
The space was not public. It was a private coffee shop. The owner of the shop did want Mr. Taylor there. Mr. Taylor was not being evicted based on his color or religion. Mr. Taylor did not leave. The police were called to remove him from the private property at the owners request.
I hope you are clear on the details of the situation now.
Yes, while what Cantor and the owner of the coffeeshop did (in kicking out someone who didn’t agree with their politics) was odious and antidemocratic, I’m quite sure it wasn’t illegal.
If he successfuly sues, will he give all the settlement money to people of Calgary, so they can afford to move someplace decent?
Has Mr Cantor been asked for a comment?
