When you say ‘da-ding.da-ding’ etc. do you mean that’s it the same notes repeated over and over or just the same rhythm? Is it even the same rhythm or does it change a little? If it’s different notes, could you try and describe how it goes up and down.
(If it’s the same notes, the 10 or so possible melodies that could fit would be easy to create, but I guess you want more than just the opening phrase in any case …)
It might be the 2nd movement (Andante Largo) of the Concerto in D for Guitar and Strings by Antonio Vivaldi. It’s slow and very delicate but majestic in a way.
No, I don’t think that’s it. Not that I can find a copy anywhere to really tell. It’s unlikely to be a concerto, I don’t think. It’s almost a solo piece.
I second mack. I remember that particular segment from Sesame Street, one of my first introductions to classical music.
Unfortunately, my sound card is shot so I cannot play some of the samples on amazon.com, but search for Antonio Vivaldi’s Lute (Chamber) Concerto, for lute (or guitar), 2 violins & continuo in D major, RV 93. Listen to the second movement (Largo): I believe this is the one you want. A few modest examples:
(By the way, the RV # is short for Ryom Verzeichnis: Peter Ryom catalogued Vivaldi’s works – there were others, but his catalogue of Vivaldi’s works is the most widely used.)
Good gravy, DDG beat me to it again!
Mack and I willl both be impossible to live with, from now on.
(There’s a limit to how much Vivaldi you can cram into a midi file. Go down to your local public library and check out the whole thing on CD or tape. It’s a very famous guitar piece. Just say “guitar” and “Vivaldi” to the librarian and she’ll take you by your little hand and lead you gently to it.)
