"Classify the Men's Rights Movement as a terrorist group"

“Pictures”? What kind of bizarro requirement is that?

Anyway, here’s one of our old friends at A Voice For Men, lamenting the loss of the Good Old Days when women spent all day indoors cleaning the house and taking care of kids (and were married off as soon as they hit puberty), and complaining that now that women have free time to follow their own pursuits and don’t have to spend all day cooking and cleaning and caring for children, and there are now laws against “marital rape”, that there’s no point in guys getting married any more.

Oh, and here’s W. F. Price, the founder of the MRA site The Spearhead (Freud would be so proud), declaring that “in most cases higher education is entirely wasted on women”.

That’s a lie. You started a thread to talk shit about bisexuals, and tried (ineptly) to disguise it as concern trolling.

That’s also a lie. You never said anything about being hit on by a married man. Not a single word. What you did say, was that bisexual people should only date other bisexual people. And when I asked why, you started talking about brains in jars.

Well, no wonder you can’t get any! You’re premptively excluding the only demographic that would say yes to you! You should try following your own advice, and stick to dating your own kind.

“Ha ha, you go to the movies!”

Seriously, what the fuck? How does that even work as an insult?

I never said anything about misogyny being the root cause of workplace injuries. I said that the reason “men’s rights activists” complain about the number of men in dangerous jobs that get killed is purely disingenuous and motivated solely out of a desire to justify their misogyny, and has precisely zip to do with concerns about the men who die doing those hazardous jobs or a desire to promote workplace equality.

Indeed.

But how about some working for women as coal miners?

But I’m sure blindboyard can provide just as many examples of all those “men’s rights activists” doing the same to work for and promote the efforts of women to achieve equality in the coal mining industry.

Right, blindboyard?

No surprise, remember that Nazi who went to a Jewish community center and shot two gentiles?

See, that’s what I love about this place. You can just throw something out there, and someone else will come along and do all the work.

Thanks, ANT Pogo!

We cannot allow a Death Star gap!

Yup. It’s those wimmenz victimizing the men all the time. Why just last week men were mugged by women at thirty-five times the rate of the opposite! It’s a rare man such as yourself who is even willing to post his opinion on the Dope, so many women shout men down with their viewpoints and their loud typing.

Keep fighting! We’re all very impressed with your work!

I recall an old Feiffer cartoon, just a woman’s talking head (from memory):

"Men might insult women.

"Men might degrade women.

"Men might beat women.

"Men might act as if they hate women.

"But men don’t hate women.

"Men need women.

“Men hate needing.”

I couldn’t help but notice blindboyard has been starting quite a few threads with rather interesting wordwiews this week:

The American constitution is ineffective

Why is the law so against squaters?

We live in a meritocracy

Did I miss the beginning of crazy week or something?

Wow. I’d say that pretty much styles the matter. I retract my psychiatric analysis. To be fair though, half of it was provided by Lucy. Guess a nickel doesn’t buy as much as it used to.

“loud typing” makes me LOL :stuck_out_tongue:

When I get my Men’s Rights I’m hoping to be able to use my new freedom to build something that explodes.

I think he was crazy, and “blaming” it on misogyny or whatever else it a bit misguided. That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t acknowledge it or say “he can’t be misogynistic because he’s crazy.” But the misogyny was merely a manifestation of his insanity. The important thing about the misogyny isn’t that he was or was not misogynistic, what’s important about it is its role as an indicator of the kinds of societies these people are falling into nowadays. And that says something worth analyzing, much more than the exact nature of what he wrote about before he killed people.

While I’m a bit hesitant to draw the parallel, it does somewhat remind of Valerie Solanas. Now, there is a characteristic difference between their works, in that Solanas presented a utopian world for all women, and not some weird narcissistic power fantasy, not to mention the debate that Solanas was deliberately being a bit hyperbolic (or the “satire of the patriarchy” theory). And, of course, despite the tone of her manifesto, Solanas attacked the people she did because she insanely thought they stole the rights to her work, or because they, specifically had too much hold over her life, not because they were men or for similar reasons.

Regardless, I think it’s important to note that crazy people will latch onto a philosophy and take it to extremes. It’s not particularly important what the philosophy is, other than how it reflects on the current zeitgeist.

Really, the most we’ve learned about this is that for some reason A Voice for Men published his insane screed without so much as the “I thought it was a joke!” excuse the SCUM Manifesto’s first publisher gave. That is far more damning than the non-news that a crazy person happened to take some philosophy to an insane extreme.

I was thinking exactly that. Solanas was somewhat less deranged than Rodger perhaps, but it’s a difference of degree more than kind.

Oh, c’mon, that one’s nothing compared to the child rearing one. That’s the one where MRA’s complain how discriminatory it is that judges are always giving custody of children to women when a couple breaks up. (“What about the father’s rights?”) And then the MRA’s turn around and say that women shouldn’t be competing against men for jobs because their primary role is being caregivers for children. (“It’s only natural order. The men hunted while the women stayed back at the cave.”)

Tsk, tsk. Don’t be so modest. The heart knows what it wants.

Everyone who thinks couples should have equal custody of children also thinks that women shouldn’t compete against men for jobs?

Da fuck did I just read?

I read the whole article. My response to item 5 was :open_mouth: …I was giggling by the time I hit item 1. I’ve been on the internet too long.

I did skip item 6 though…“real people” erotica is squicky to me for some reason.
