classmates.com

Does anyone have an account there? I went there, just for kicks. Half my HS class is on there! Way Cool!

I have an account there too, a gold one. Our 20th anniv. is next year, but I don’t see any reunion plans yet. No, I don’t want to do it!

They found most of my classmates.

I’m there. There are a whole bunch of people in my graduating class I don’t remember… it’s been 25 years, but still. dang. I’m gonna have to get out my yearbooks some day and put some faces to these names.

I have an account there. I was hoping to track down some old friends.

Instead, a psycho ex-girlfriend tracked me down.

Caveat emptor.

I can’t understand paying $36 a year for this. There is another site that charges $3 for life. I think it’s www.schoolnews.com - they don’t advertise on every page shown on the Internet, so they may not have a lot of folks on there.

I think you have to pay the 3 bucks before you can see who else is registered as well.

I had to grab the yearbook on my first visit. haven’t been back lately (so many more of the features are pay-based now). I think they set up a reunion there but I’m not sure.

now if only i had been friendly with more of the people there i might’ve taken more of an interest.

thanks sj2, but I was the 1st one from my class. I prefer to eneter a jumping party. (so to speak)

I’ve registered there, but the school that I attended for grades 1 through 3 no longer exists, and there’s no listing for the school I went to for grade 4 and most of grade 5…that hampers my having a complete listing there.

Quite a few of my high school class are registered there, but none of them has contacted me.

I’m there along with maybe 1/3 of my class. We had our twentieth in October.

Sigh.

You young 'uns don’t know how easy you have it. [shake cane] When I was in school we didn’t have these MP3 players and laptops. We had to listen to 8-track tapes and our computers didn’t even have screens! And when they got screens, they were black and white.

Megabytes my ass.

That’s gotta hurt.
I also have an account there, and managed to track down an unrequited grade-school crush. Some dreams are better left as dreams.

Lately, classmates.com seems to be the pop-up du jour. Nearly every site I go to has a clasmates ad popping up like a madman.

$36 a year, to talk to people I didn’t talk to 20 years ago? I think not.

The true friends I had in HS are still my friends today. Both of 'em.

fwiw, I’m engaged to an old girlfriend - who now says I am her ‘$36 whim’ - she paid just to send me an email…

I just let my paid membership run out. I’ll use the freebie part of it from now on. It’s OK, I guess. I never really paid a whole lot of attention to HS once I left (OK, I didn’t pay much attention while I was THERE either, but that’s another story…) but it is kinda neat to find an old friend once in a while.

You young’uns?
About twice a year they would bring in an old movie projector and show us a black and white movie ("A Tale of Two Cities was a yearly event). We used fountain pens, because there was no such thing as a ballpoint and the typewriters were manual. Computers?; 8-track?; yeah “megabytes my ass!”
