Cleaning low- (and no-) pile rugs

My bedroom rug is a kilim-style Ikea number; the living-room rug has a very low pile. I also have long hair, and I shed, as do both of my cats. Thus there’s all kinds of hair, much of it very dark, on these rugs. Vacuuming, even at the “bare floors” setting, doesn’t do a very good job. (I have an otherwise pretty good vacuum cleaner, newish, that I’m not going to replace). Sweeping doesn’t work (though I’ll admit my broom is old). I end up kind of raking the rug with my fingers, at which point it’s easier to pick up the hair by hand.

Any tips?

My sister has long hair and a long-hair dog, and she uses one ofthese.

Cool – I’ll definitely look for that next time I’m in Target!

When I went to K-Mart, they had a different brand (the Lola Rola – which, BTW, I paid less than list price for). This works great. Tell your sister thanks for the tip!
