I don’t know who invented it, but it probably isn’t glass, and it probably isn’t made just for porno films. Look about 2/3rds of the way down this page from Good Vibrations, where they have two different clear dildos made out of acrylic and lucite. Good Vibrations is not the type of sex shop that would sell products that they didn’t think their customers would enjoy, so presumably these are actually being used by a good number of people.

BTW, I highly recommend Good Vibrations for various high-quality sex gear and supplies (no, I don’t own a clear dildo). I’m not affiliated with them, just a satisfied customer.

I think we’re all glossing over an important point, which is that “Clear Glass Dildo” would make a great name for a band.

Clear glass dildos are usually used for a medical procedure and provided to a woman by her doctor in 3 or 4 graduated sizes. (Yes, this is true.)

I don’t know the name of the condition, but it is when the vagina is too small for normal, pleasurable sex. The dildos are used, smallest one first, to stretch it out. They are not returned to the doctor.
