Is there any way to prevent users from clearing the URL history in Internet Explorer? Absolutely anything that accomplishes this would be of interest.
I don’t believe the IE administrator’s kit has this functionality, but even if it did, I’d be afraid to use it. If the history gets too large, it can cause problems with other programs, the .NET help system, for example. As a user, the second I found out I was unable to clear it, I’d get suspicious and start searching for the problem. Do you want to be caught up in this scenario?
If you’re trying to spy on someone’s surfing experience, there are much better ways to do it, but I’m disinclined to make it easy for someone to do so unless they have a very good reason.
