Uh…didn’t preview before I posted. Thanks Ellen!! It’s on the menu this weekend.
Sorry, forgot to answer a question upthread. I work in transitional care, aka stepdown. I used to work intensive/critical care, but adrenalin is an over-rated hormone.
I have been doing some kind of nursing for 20 years and am making a career move to library science. Is that TMI?
I got out of school, even with a Mom who was a nurse, but I think it was because she was too overwhelmed with college (back for her master’s) and also, I was the youngest, so I think she just threw up her hands and said, “fine, be ‘sick’”. (I was in HS)

Um, excuse me. You were dragged into the pool last night. And that’s where you slept. So you are also posting from there.

I think NOT!
: drags MBG into the pool with her :
Hey, don’t start somethin’, won’t be nothin’.[/.quote]
Just pointing that out.
And I am going to the library tomorrow, so sure I’ll get it! Anybody know the author? I could google it I suppose.
I’ll check the website for the video.
The Keys bridge wouldn’t bother me. It’s not high enough. I know they say that vertigo is caused by the fear that you’re going to throw yourself off, but for me it’s a horrifying feeling that the thing I’m standing on is going to crumble. I’m not worried about throwing myself off, I just don’t trust structural engineers.
Today before work I must do all the dishes, clean the kitchen, and put some books back. I think I would rather loaf around. Oh, well. Mr. Lissar is off to a karate seminar after work, so we won’t see each other today.
Gawd, I can’t even code myself properly.
Happy Wednesday
my back hurts
I don’t want to be at work
I don’t want to do anything except win the lottery
The good news is it looks like the apartment will be ready to rent by July 1st - which is good because I could really use the income
Probably the chlorine in the keyboard.
They also do that on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel too, although they don’t advertise it.
Pasta Salad Update
I just consumed some of my salad, and while excellent as usual
… in my opinion, it could take a little more of the hot stuff. So, if you make it, MBG, throw in some more cayenne or chipotle. I forgot that since writing the recipe, I started adding in some cumin. And, if you want to make it even more main-dishy, add cubed cooked chicken.
If all else fails, you CAN contact the station for a tape. They charge for them, though.
I’m late to this discussion of bridges. This is the one I do every day, and the one I got stuck in on Friday
When I know the MMBT is backed up, this gem is my Plan B for getting home.
Once we move to Mayberry next month, I won’t have to mess with either one.
so what you do is, in the field where the burned down buildings (soon) were, you build yourself a small lake (large pond) and build a bridge over it - you could walk the bridge and reminisce about driving them - and put some fish and or ducks in your pond
My favoritest bridge around here is the St. Johns bridge. Not 'cause it’s real high or long, because it isn’t, but it’s real cool looking. More pics can be found here.
My second favoritest bridge (around here) is the Astoria-Megler bridge, 'cause half the time when I’m crossing it it means I’m on the way to the beach, and the other half of the time, it means I’m on my way home from the beach, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
Your recipe sounds yummy Ellen, I’ll have to try that.
I was listening to somebody on TV the other night talking about adult attention deficit disorder and I though “hey, that sounds like me!” Not that it matters too much. I am NOT taking drugs for it.
What else? Oh yeah. I have hair. When it gets too long I have some of it cut off. The End.
Not the end. My hair is white, as is my beard. Someone in my wifes real estate office suggested that I play Santa Claus at the office Christmas party this year. I think maybe they want to sit on my lap. I wouldn’t mind. There are some very attractive young women in my wifes office. I’m concerned about the guys though. Some of those guys are HUGE!
I need to win the lottery too! We shoud get right on that. I think it involves buying tickets, no?
I think we’re getting Alberto’s leavin’s up here today - it’s been nice and showery most of the day, and we really need it.
Work was interesting - I was doing the part of the project that’s normally done by an electrical engineer, but we don’t have an electrical engineer assigned, so I just took it on myself. Luckily, I had a good foundation - left by the EE who worked on the earlier version of the project, so mostly I was enhancing what he’d done.
Glad the week is on the downslope. I’ll be gladder next week - my kid and my nephew are flying in on Thurs night - YAY! Then I get to spend 11 days or so entertaining a 12-year old boy. That promises to be interesting. He’s never been here, so we’ll do DC and Baltimore and maybe Annapolis, and a few other spots that won’t bore him too much, I hope.
Steak and lump taters (N.O.T) for supper, along with some vegetable like substance. Yum!
I got across the James River Bridge during a hurricane back in 1986. That was fun. Even on the best of days, the river is nearly up to the level of the bridge. When I drove over it, and I was one of the last ones they allowed across that day, waves were constantly blowing over the deck. Good times, good times.
So I guess you successfully closed on the house, then?
Bumba easy solution to your Santa dilemna - post a sign that says something like “You must be under {some weight under that of the smallest big guy} pounds to ride Santa.”
Well, I did the dishes. Then I went downtown, intending to locate some okay jeans. I went into the new (new for Canadians, anyway) shopy Hollister. It’s very very dark and very very loud. I felt elderly for the first time. I’m 27. There were skirts that were, no kidding, eight inches long!
I found some very nice jeans somewhere else. They were expensive. As someone who rarely pays more than $30 for any piece of clothing, I feel ashamed. I will wait for Mr. Lissar to pass judgement on them. You know how you can make a friendly salesperson’s countenance cloud over? Ask them about the store’s return policy.
Oh, I also went to Sephora looking for Urban Decay makeup, and ended up trying about ten different Demetre perfumes. The have Vanilla Cookie, Chocolate Chip Cookie, Mojito, Dirt, Laundromat, Margarita, and a whole bunch I don’t remember. Cool brand.
I should now eat something before work.
<snerk>
OK, my first post was eaten, apparently. Whatever. I need to go lay down. I am exhausted from one lil meeting. The commute to my work is so bad at present, it really takes it out of me.
I am home with much hammering and bad hard rock and two adult men who are putting in cabinets. Time to go to my room and shut the door…god, that sounds like the start of a bad porno film. I forgot to add–shut the door and don’t invite anyone in.
Woohoo! Bow-chicka-wow-wow.
Oh, darn.
