Clearing my stuff – an MMP give-away, sorta

A company that does our on-line work order application here is based somewhere that they’re getting that too, and their help line is down because of flooding.

We have some threatening clouds around here but I don’t think they’ll amount to very much.

I had to run some things to my superintendent for Monday’s board meeting just now. I met the interim secretary he has while his normal one is out recovering from surgery.

Oh. My.

::calming fluttery heart::

I’m going to run home and take a cold shower BEFORE I hit the gym if no one minds…

They’re not bad. Not actually eye candy, but there are definite possibilities…
Finished some of the mountain of work I have, so off to quasi-nap.

Lissa -welcome to the land of decrepitude. I am dinosaur fodder, being over 40 and all, but some of these stores…how do the customers SEE the merchandise? And the music…and the help (usually good, but can be obnoxious) and the clothes! I have rags that are bigger than some of those shirts etc. I feel like an awkward package in those stores. Bet the jeans are cute, though.

A heads up for Kythereia if she’s reading or does vanity searches- I emailed you, but it may not have gone through, regarding Serenity on the 24th.

“to ride Santa”? It is only due to my supreme self-control and inhuman-like will power that I have heretofore kept my mind from going there. Thanks a lot Sean!

You’ve got a funny definition of normal, Mika. Sorry, I couldn’t help myself.

Rifty, spoiled milk, ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. Spoiled milk is something that, for some reason, totally grosses me out.

Hi Bumba!

Thanks for the pasta salad recipe, Ellen. Sounds yummy. (I’m an avocado addict, so anything that contains avocado sounds yummy to me.)

I’m home early today (I’ve been home for quite a while now) so that I can get some extra work done in the garden. I wasn’t focusing well and wasn’t getting much done, so I left. Maybe tomorrow will be more productive.

Guess I should go outside. (I’ve actually changed into gardening clothes, which is pretty good…)

Not yet. Inspection is 10 AM tomorrow. I’m taking a camera, so y’all can see pictures of the new VunderLair…

Nah. I’m going to get rid of them, and plant a pecan grove instead. I figure it should be simple to manage, given the value of the advice I get around here in the MMP. Heck, I think an MMPer or three have grove management experience, seein’ how they talk about being up to their chins in nuts…

You can have my part of it. The CG base was closed and everyone sent home because it was flooding. I had to drive through axle deep water on the 1 road in and out of the joint.

I gess we’ll find out tomorrow if the new place is on high ground or not… Gates County has been hit even harder than Portsmouth or Hampton.

So, Bobbio, you thinkin’ you might now have waterfront property??

This is just a drive by. My new job actually involves, you know, WORK. Gah! I’ve never had to do a full day’s work at any job I’ve had before. It makes the day go quickly, but it doesn’t leave time for the Dope. Don’t they know that it’s important to read the Dope every day??

I’m really enjoying the new job though. The ice cream social today might have clouded my judgment though so I’ll have to let you know tomorrow if I’m still thinking it’s worth giving up my Dope time for.

7" of rain! CrabtreeValley Mall evacuated! Details at 11!
It rained all day today, torretial at times. There is flooding all over the place, even in front of the doghouse. I’ll post some pics in a minute. Ilucked out, I was working, so I was able to stay out of the weather.

Jeez… the jealousy never ends! I have wanted a wheel for sometime but was unable to find any when my wife tried to buy me one for a surprise present. And now you have a wheel, a kiln and a work area? Nice. Really nice.
Jeez. I supposed it’s a motorized wheel and everything!

Brent Model CXC - 1HP - it’ll handle 100# of clay.

And, just for you, Nic, Me, throwing.

That don’t look like throwin’ to me! Ain’t nuttin’ bein’ heaved across a room. :stuck_out_tongue:

I just got in from work a bit ago. Last night there was no spend the night night because of ACBG’s work and now tonight, no spend the night night because of my work. :frowning: And I’m spending the night in Waycross tomorrow night because of work. To make it even worse, ACBG is on call this weekend so we might not even get much of a chance to see each other much less have a spend the night night. I’m in bad, bad need of a spend the night night.

EC that pasta salad sounds nummy. When I was reading it, I was thinking, some chunked up grilled chicken would be good in that. All us cool kids know what’s good, we do!

We need to start thinking about who’s gonna do next week’s MMP. Volunteers glady taken. Anyone?

Yes. Normal = anyone who is not my family. I don’t think you can argue with me there!

Gotta admit you’re right. :stuck_out_tongue:

Hope all of you in the path of all that water are safe. That storm looks pretty ugly, dogb.

taxi, I thought we’d gone over the part where a minimum daily allotment of the Dope was supposed to be part of your contract…? Glad you’re liking the job, though.

Hope the inspection goes really really well, Bobbio. I’ll keep all the appropriate appendages crossed for you.

You go to the most interesting stores, LiLi.

MBG, dear, I think you have more crushes than anyone I know. I find it highly entertaining. No idea why.

Well, I potted up some more plants and mowed the front lawn and then I didn’t feel like gardening any more.

Talked to my brother. He’s in California this week and was chatting with someone where he’s consulting. They were talking about past jobs and his co-worker mentioned he used to work at a major automotive company in Michigan. My brother mentioned that one of his childhood friends was an engineer there. Turns out the co-worker used to have an office next to my brother’s friend and worked with him on several projects, knows the family, etc. Before the conversation was over, they were on the phone with mutual friend. Yes, it is a small world; why do you ask?

Well, I think I’ll watch the German news and then go finish the mystery I’m reading. It’s OK. Fluffy and reasonably entertaining. Can’t remember the name of it, of course.

Would that be GM?

'Cause my dad worked there for a long time. Till it went belly up. But he was on the line.

gt, it was bad The news was comparing the rain to Hurricane Fran. here are some pics. It’s 10:00 and Six Forks road is still closed.

I think I need to join GA - I play way too much on line poker <sigh> I wouldn’t complain if I were winning - but I got lulled in by winning the first fwe games, then zappo. <sigh>
I’m just going to crawl into bed now and watch one “boyfriend” (Alton Brown) while waiting for the other one’s (Jon Stewart) show. Mainly because my “main squeeze” (Scott Bakula) ( ) doesn’t have a show this season
