Clearing my stuff – an MMP give-away, sorta

FCM, insist on dinner too. You work too hard not to get it!

I had fun spending unecessary money today. You know what that is, when you’re hanging around waiting for the Wifey to find something she likes (Translation: it’s not made of stretch material and doesn’t make her look fat), and you see a pair of cargo shorts and a couple silk shirts you like, then you go to Target to get the Kid a Y-adapter so she can use her I-Pod in her stereo, and you end up with a new pair of Ear-Buds?

And we got the doors.

spats, I didn’t get it either til you explained it. :smack:

Oh, while the Wife was being angry at the women’s clothing gods for making everything out of “that f-ing stretch crap”, we saw some Indian women walk past and she said “that’s what I need, something flowing and loose…” (you don’t want to see her in that mood). I said, hey I’ll ask mika if that stuff’s as comfortable as you think it looks. I mean, to me, it looks complicated, if I was an Indian woman, I’d probably spend half my life tripping over it. Same reason I’m not a muslim cleric I guess - the clothes look difficult.

So, my friend, would the Wife like that stuff? Is it comfy in the heat?

Ok, so last night as I mentioned, the kid and I went to the DCI (Drum Corps International) show here in town. She’s a band geek, and has some friends from HS that are touring with different corps’ this summer, so we went, since it was literally walking distance from the house. I took a bunch of pictures and posted the 20 or better ones here . peruse if you have nothing better to do, at least some of the captions amused me.

Some friends are coming by in an hour or so, we’ll be off to our local fest. The band tonight is the Ides of March, and yeah I know, they’re an oldie act, but one of the very best to see live, so if you ever get the chance, GO.

A couple of my friends are working with/around Jim Peterik, and one of their cousins is playing with the Ides, so we’ve seen them a bunch of times. All of the original guys are still playing, and for old guys (older than me even  ), they still got it. Plus, you get to have Peterik be the Rock Star, and talk about and then play songs he did with Survivor, .38 Special and folks like that.

So, there you go, I’m off to shower and whatnot. Maybe wear one of these new spiffy shirts I got.

As it happens, my sweetie is out at this very moment picking up pizza. Yum!

I started to post earlier, but somehow my post was eaten up.

At any rate, I went to the grocery store and picked up the fixin’s for the lasagne. I picked up a couple of other odds and ends as well.

Came home, checked the mail, eyed the bills, and put them away until Thursday.

Mr. Taters decided to bag going out on the boat. I would have gone, but he didn’t seem to want to. So, I puttered here and there around the house. I didn’t really get anything of any great consequence done, though. I vacuumed the berber in the great room, and dusted. I even moved the furniture when I vacuumed.

I loaded up the dishwasher and discovered I was out of detergent, so I walked down to my neighbor’s house to borrow some. She told me to keep the jug, she had another one that was full. It’s all good, I’ve given her laundry detergent and dish washing soap on many occasions.

I’m thinking I should start doing some other cleaning. I’ll get to it. I don’t really want to do any steam cleaning until everyone has gone to bed.

I have a salway kameez, and it’s really comfy. It’s not cotton, though, so I don’t wear it in extreme heat. A cotton one would be lovely in summer.

Home and time to do more chores. I object to chores. I haven’t had time to try and make yogurt yet. Grr.

‘Salwar’. Yeesh. Too much heat has killed my brain.

Sounds like most people have been busy. Me too, although not with the usual.

I’m back from watching nephew play baseball. And niece swim with friends. And everyone be grumpy because it was hot out. And everyone be in better spirits because we had Chinese for dinner. My fortune belongs in the recent fortune cookie thread. It said something like:

Behind every successful man there is always
Lucky Numbers: 9238439473927
Learn Chinese: Can’t remember what I learned. My brother learned April.

I felt cheated.

Baseball was fun. It wasn’t too hot because we got to sit in the shade. Drive was rather longer than I wanted (but it always is). But I didn’t want to spend the night as I have lots I need to do this weekend. But it was my last chance this year to see nephew play and I am a devoted aunt. He was three for three, caught the ball and tagged someone out on their way to first base. He also got tagged out himself once. But it looked like he was having fun. Pretty good for someone who will be eight way too soon. (How can he be almost eight? He was just recently a baby!)

Tired. Off to bed. Maybe I’ll read for a few minutes.

GT

I slept all day Saturday - I got up at 7pm, ate a little dinner, went back to bed. Now I’m awake - sort of - but I’ll be going back to sleep soon. I just stopped in to say I forgot to mention last night my younger nephew and his girlfriend are engaged to be married! Yay!

Happy Father’s Day to all you MMP daddies! Everybody, hug a dad!

I don’t know why I pretend I can sleep in. Until Bernie the semi-animate throw rug goes to her canine reward, I’ll be obligated to get up and take her into the yard to answer nature’s call. Although even if Bernie could tend to her own issues, there’s a certain feline who seems to feel especially close to me between 2 and 6 AM, the exact hour varying for reasons only she seems to know. <yawn>

I asked FCD yesterday what he wanted to do for Father’s Day - he was ambivalent. So we may or may not visit an over-crowded restaurant today. We will be back in the basement for sure. But he’s sleeping (the critters seem to respect* his * slumber) so I’m amusing myself quietly, having just paid an overdue electric bill on line. Can’t believe I forgot it last month… :smack:

And another round of
Happy Father’s Day!
from me too.

Oh, and I’m up. Without a pet to wake me up. Just my own little brain saying “wake up, wake up!” Maybe I can convince it to let me sleep a bit more after a while…

GT

Good morning!

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY TO ALL DADS AND THOSE WHO FULFILL THE ROLE OF DADS!

I wanted to sleep in, but the call of nature of woke me so I got up. I could go lie down for awhile yet; but I have stuff to do. Right now, however, I’m enjoying the total peace and quiet around the house. It is GOLDEN! Soon, everyone else will be up and it will all be shattered.

I need to finish vacuuming, wash the floors, clean the kitchen, and clean the bathrooms today. Plus, there’s laundry to do. Also, I need to start the sauce for my lasagne in a couple few hours so it can simmer and get all the flavors all nice and melded together.

So, that’s my exciting day. Envy me because I lead such a glamorous life!

I don’t know what happened, but I managed to close the window that held my post.

To summarize - I’m taking a break. Apart from breakfast and yet another trek to Lowe’s, I’ve sanded the first coat of mud, added a second coat, and painted the block wall. After we relax a bit, we’re going to install the lights and the exhaust fan in the studio. And I’ll probably clean it up a little, too - it’s a disaster right now.

When I sat down here at the computer, my little attention whore of a cat started climbing all over me. But she is cute, as evidenced by this pic taken last night. If she’s not trying to sleep on my head, she likes to sleep on this recliner in her afghan nest.

It’s way hot here - well, not way hot, but hot enough that we closed the house and turned on the AC. Except it’s not hot enough for the AC to kick on, but if we left it open, it would be. Which tells me that the trees shading the house are doing their job. So there’s that.

Is that mundane enough?

Wow, take one day off from things (Friday) and it takes me two days to catch up again. You guys talk [line]too much[/line] a lot.

I’ve had a couple of quiet days. Just reading about everything you’ve been doing, FCM, makes me want to just go take a nap!

From like three days ago, our silly lab Isaac loves to catch and eat bugs. He can snag flies right out of midair. He’s very talented that way.

That’s all I got. Oh, except HAPPY FATHERS DAY! to all the dads out there. Mine isn’t around to say it to any more. :frowning:

Well, that’s what I get for not taking that nap before posting. So what IS that line-through tag, anyway, that I failed so miserably to put in the last post, and was going to delete except I hit submit first?

The kids are busily cooking their dad some brekkies. Maple sausages, scrambled eggs, toast. They’re sweet that way.

I’m going to have to get myself in gear and get going here. I’m going to have to clean the kitchen before I embark on my lasagne sauce making.

I think it’s (del), but I suck at coding. I’ll phone my dad in an hour or so. I just made rice crispie squares and I’m thinking about eating the whole panful.

Besides that, nothing much is happening today.

Must call my dad, too, and then do some laundry rather than waiting till Tuesday, and ending up wearing slightly questionable things to work. I’m a tiny bit short on change, though. I’m trying to decide whether to walk to the store to get more change, or just hang that second load up to dry.

Later I think I’ll get to talk to TBT. That would be lovely.

I’ve been a bum so far today. Most ambitious things I’ve done are go to church and go to Wild Oats for a few groceries.

Need to get some laundry and cleaning done. And maybe water some plants although it’s supposed to rain after a while. It’s really hot, so I need to make sure a few of the plants don’t burn up.

I’ve got a dinner invitation; that’ll take care of the rest of the evening.

Ohhhhhhh…almost forgot. Stepped out the front door to go to church and almost stepped on a wasp’s nest. Really. There were 2 wasps building a nest in the middle of my front stoop. There were a couple others hovering and one stung me, I think. Guess I need to go get rid of the nest too.

Maybe I’ll do that first.

GT

Uh…yes, gt, I would think that getting rid of the wasp nests would be your first order of business. I hate those dang things. I go on “bee patrol” about once a week, armed with my handy-dandy wasp spray, looking for any nests. So, far, I haven’t run across any. Well, except for the one that was starting to be built in my old grill. I took care of that bastige right quick, let me tell you.

Shower taken, dishes washed, and now I need to clear my counters off so I can commence cooking.

I just spoke to my Dad and wished him a Happy Father’s Day. He drove down to Oregon to participate in a model plane flying competition. He competed yesterday and has advanced to whatever level for today. I don’t know if he’ll make it here today. If he doesn’t, no biggie. He’s spending his day the way he’d like to, and that’s what’s important.

Speaking of watering plants, my poor hanging basket is in dire need of water. I looked up at it today and was SHOCKED, SHOCKED I tell you to see how wilted it looked.

So, it appears today will be just an immediate (kids, hubby) family day. I’m glad, really. This means I can putter along on my own schedule and not worry about having to “entertain” folks. My niece and nephew may or may not show up; I don’t know. I’m thinking they wont.

Well…it turned out to be two very small nests. I’ll post pics tomorrow if they turned out. Looks like one fell onto the doormat and that other was growing in a little nook over the front door. Got rid of them both without incident. Although I did flee indoors after each removal cuz there were wasps flying around looking unhappy. Go figure.

Hope everyone is having a nice relaxing Father’s Day. I’m off to dinner…

GT

Okay, testing to see if this [del]works[/del] …

Yay!
