So Clerks II screened at Cannes, I think last night, and was given an 8-minute standing ovation as the credits rolled. Here’s a video of the happening:
I’m seriously excited about this one.

Hmmm. This is a promising sign.
I may have to stick this back on my radar.
I was going to see it anyways, but this is still good news.
Super corny vid, but great news.
Maybe Smith actually shows the sex-with-the-dead-guy-in-the-john this time
It is not a remake but rather a follow-up 10 years later to the original with the original characters and at least small appearances by most of the Actors you might think of as Kevin Smith’s regulars. Jason Lee and Ethan Suplee are among them.
If you cannot tell, I have been looking forward to this movie quite a bit. Of course, I love every Kevin Smith movie except Jersey Girl.
The The View Askewniverse - Main website has updates, trailers and extras for the upcoming movie.
**Recent big news: **
Clerks II - In Theaters on JULY 21!!
“Clerks II” is coming out EVEN EARLIER THIS SUMMER! In a ballsy move that says “Fuck you: we’re a five million dollar flick and we’re coming out in the fucking middle of the summer, bitches!”, Weinstein Co. has upped the "Clerks II release date from August 18th to JULY 21st! The wait is now almost a month shorter, folks!
If you like Kevin Smith and have not seen it yet, rent An Evening with Kevin Smith (2002).
It is almost 4 hours long, I watched it over two nights. It is Kevin speaking at five different colleges telling great, funny stories. It is exceptionally funny, especially his long story about making a documentary with Prince. I was laughing out loud and it was thoroughly enjoyable.
Jim
I didn’t even know this was on its way. I’m very excited indeed. And Cannes is a tough crowd to please (unless you’re Michael Moore).
Maybe most of the audience were paid off and this is a publicity scheme. A sequel can’t be good, can it?
I liked all the Kevin Smith movies except Chasing Amy and Jersey Girl. Chasing Amy had some good aspects, but still gets a thumbs down for overall patheticness.
Cool! It’s got boobies.
It was a press screening. This year’s festival had a couple of fully hostile press screenings, which is what made this positive reaction so notable.
The French give *Jerry Lewis * comedies standing ovations. :dubious:
Cite please for the last time Cannes did? I think your fact, while true once a few decades ago is very dated.
Jim {Not that I like defending the French but I do not think the Jerry Lewis French legion are the people at Cannes anymore}

Rolling, rolling rolling, keep them Eyes a Rolling.
Jim BTW:Thats a pretty weak cite.
