I would however love to see the balance of her focus shift.

The point that Trump is unqualified to be president is now well made and will continue to be made outside of the debate stage. Those who don’t get it now never will. On that stage step above that. Beating that drum too much does not appear presidential.

Focus more on being relatable yourself, with stories you’ve heard from real people across all demographics and, in big brushstrokes, how you intend to address those problems.

Everything that goes wrong with the country from this point forward is women’s fault.

I feel some relief about that. The next four years are likely to be some of the worst in our country’s history. The Republican establishment will make sure of that because a failed America is in their best interest in the short run.

Focus more on being relatable yourself, with stories you’ve heard from real people across all demographics and, in big brushstrokes, how you intend to address those problems.

Be prepared to attack the idea of economic isolationism as a death sentence for our economy, to defend your view that America needs good trade agreements and your confidence in our country to thrive in our unavoidably globally interconnected world.

The message to emphasize: Is it corny? Yeah. But it is also true and what we need to hear her say.

Of course the Cubs will be on so not sure I’ll be hearing it!

She should have plenty of opportunity to do just this. Debate topics are:

Trump was considered to have performed better in the second debate than the first but still lost it by a large margin and is still plummeting in the polls. He said some things that sparked even more disgust against him. The odds that Trump will do more damage to himself than Clinton in the third debate are very high. There is no upside for Clinton refusing to show up for the debate. It’s the political equivalent of Muhammad Ali’s rope-a-dope technique, where you allow an opponent to knock himself out while he thinks he has you on the ropes.

Trump did a good job of attacking Hillary in the second debate, but that doesn’t help him at all. Dislike for Hillary is already fully baked in to every poll, what he needed to do was make a case for himself and at that he failed utterly.

Some Republicans are falling in line behind Trump again:So, if you think an R has redeemed themselves somewhat by finally (finally) taking a stand against a known sexual assaulter and likely rapist, be sure to see what they’ve said lately. They might have re-discovered their conservative credentials.

Or, more likely, discovered that Trump still has millions of myrmidons who will leave the downballot blank if the Republican candidate is a weak-kneed RINO backstabber who doesn’t have The Donald’s back.

Stand by Trump, and lose the relatively respectable conservatives. Distance yourself from Trump, and lose the basket of deplorables. Waffle back and forth, and lose some of each. These guys are big-red-capital-Superman-“S” screwed, and they brought it on themselves by building a party that provided il Doofus with a natural home.

No kidding. 80% of success is showing up, and to have the next President refuse to show up at one of three debates organized by a respected organization would be terrible.

Carter skipped one debate, leaving the floor to Reagan and Anderson, by the way. It did not end well for Carter, obviously.

I think the debate was a triumph in terms of Trump’s persistence, his unwavering dedication to his victory, his single-minded determination. If nothing else, it was a triumph of his will. I’m sure Buchanan perceived this.
