Clinton v Trump - The Stretch Run Thread

Well it’s already raining heavily in Orlando and we had cops coming by our business telling us we should close up soon.

This video of Ted Cruz is priceless. Absolutely priceless.

His body language is depressed, his tone is un-enthusiastic, his posture is one of embarrassment.

He did not speak The Name. “Vote for crunchy goodness, puppies, and the Constitution!”.

Your post is an impenetrable fortress of Trumpian logic.

But I wanna declare his candidacy to be a disaster nowwwwwww…!

Wait, let me check with the Central Committee. No, you can’t. Sorry.

At least Lyndon didn’t drop hydrogen bombs on Hanoi. With Barry AuH2O in the Oval Office, who knows?

Those who play with fire
Get burned.
Those who play with knives
Get cut.
And I have very serious qualms
About those who play with hydrogen bombs;
They just go “pffffft.”

What’s weird about the 538 Now Cast map to me right now is that the next-most-likely state for Clinton to win is Alaska at 25%. There’s a pretty big probability gap between the current 332 EVs that’s being predicted and increasing that at all.

But Alaska? Didn’t think Sec. Clinton would have any chance there.

Realistic enough to be my new desktop background on Windows.

Maybe lack of good polling? No one polls Alaska.

…or expects the Spanish Inquisition.

Yeah, I know, silly. But hey, it’s the silly season.

Former GOP Lawmakers chiming in.

I am stunned.

Alaska’s a potentially strong Johnson state.

Yet, despite being so manifestly unqualified, somehow the Republicans currently in office like Ryan and McConnell are unable to see it, or lack the integrity to say it.

The other guys aren’t running for re-election. Not running for something, running from something.

Could be a hint of things to come, a new reborn Republican Party. Shake out the knuckle-walking Trogs, become the Loyal Opposition. Few elections in the wilderness, of course, give the Dems time to make the Obama progress into the status quo. Which the Republicans can be conservative about, protect from change.

Me? Tequila and bongwater, want some?

Lack of integrity, no doubt about it.
Blaming Obama for the veto override is pretty much the capper.

I guess they’re saying that it’s Obama’s fault they overrode his veto, because he did not tell them more forcefully why they should not do that.

This is the behavior pattern of a small child.

FWIW, I grew up in New York, and if I read the phonetic transliteration correctly, I say “Nevada” like Trump does. Of course, I’m now* unlikely to correct anyone on their pronunciation of the name of their home state.

  • I’m sure that I might have in college, if only to tease and annoy. We used to proclaim to the girl from Iowa that “Iowa is only a post office box in New Jersey”. Little did I know that later I’d live there happily for 5 years.

Yeah, you’re smoking* something* funny. I recall Election Night 2008, celebrating with friends and neighbors. One of them called the anti-Obama types (specifically, the ones who would later be pro-Trump types) a “dying breed.” She said it so memorably, we still call her our “dying breed” neighbor.

Well, they’re taking their sweet sweet time dying.

(I shouldn’t push this lighthearted observation too far, because there is a serious issue of a rise in premature death rates – much of it suicide – among less-educated whites in flyover country…but let me have my fun for a moment).

I read yesterday, “Has there ever been so clear a case of an over qualified woman competing for an executive position with some shitty, under qualified man?”
