Running up the score would just make those non-deplorable Republicans feel bad. Empathy is a liberal value!
But in all seriousness, I think Clinton will win and do better in the popular vote than she’s doing now in the polls for two reasons: GOTV and third-party voters picking a side. I could be wrong.
I can’t believe how deep of a trap Clinton laid with Machado. The actual accusation is so mild: Trump made a sexist comment about a woman’s weight. Ho Hum, it must be a day of the week ending with a “y”. It should have been lost among all the other attacks in a very contentious debate. But since Trump has a very personal loathing for the woman in question, he just can’t let it go, and so he just keeps digging himself deeper and deeper and deeper and all Clinton has to do is sit back and watch.
I was a bit worried that after his debate performance that Trump might have learned from his mistakes and realize he needs to prepare for the next one and pay better attention to how he presents himself. But now it is clear that he hasn’t learned a thing, and that its all down hill from here.
The quoted article mentions that transcripts of the testimony have already been made public. Was there some sort of bombshell there that could be used against Trump?
There’s footage of Trump saying racist things in this legal proceeding, which will be utilized in advertisements. That’s the worry, and the argument, of the Trump team. The judge said “Tough shit”, which is different from Curiel, who has not allowed the release of deposition videos.
Congressional Republicans refuse to support efforts to investigate Trump’s Russian ties; prefer to keep digging into Clinton’s emails. Huh. How about that.
What Trump is doing here is what he’s always done; Attack, attack, attack. He is showing everyone what happens if you are a small person with little power and you confront him - he will attack you personally with every lie and loathsome accusation at his disposal. It’s his way of sending a message: “Mess with me and I will utterly destroy you”. It’s how he has been successful in screwing people over in his business dealings.
Speaking of his business dealings:
I’m predicting in the next debate, Hillary brings in a specific, named example of a small business person who The Donald stiffed. A personal story of a good person whose business was destroyed because Trump refused to pay what he owed.
And of course, Trump will spend the next 5 days after the debate attacking this poor small businessman. He simply does not learn.
This, double this, and again: this! Dem control of the Senate and the House used to be impossible, now, just unlikely. On the one hand, it would require an earth-shattering electoral catastrophe for the Republican Party. On the other hand, precisely that.
Could save the Republican Party. And as Eugene V. Debs is my witness, I mean not the slightest sarcasm.

Wouldn’t it be great if somehow one of those people got to ask the question themselves? I’m certain screening would prevent it, but what a lovely scene:
Small Business Man: Mr Trump, I supplied and installed urinals for the Taj Mahal. We had a contract for $100,000. First, you slow paid me, and then I had to settle for $70,000. Why did you do this to me?
As awesome as that would be, it would be as clearly partisan as getting that Benghazi mother to ask Clinton why she murdered her son. Relative truth of the accusation doesn’t matter, it would probably reflect more poorly on Clinton than Trump.
This election has brought some “Boy cried wolf” chickens home to roost.
For years, we’ve been subjected to hyperbole from both sides, telling us that each presidential election is “the most important of our generation” and that if we vote for the wrong person, the country is doomed.
Now, we do have a candidate that could truly do immense damage to America, and some American voters are tuning out the fearmongering because they’ve heard it before in 2004, 2008, and 2012 with Bush, Kerry, McCain, Obama and Romney.
Pundits cried wolf before when there wasn’t a real wolf, and now a real wolf has come but the villagers aren’t buying it.
Well, makes sense. After that debate I can’t imagine there are many undecided voters left (just undeclared ones). Speaking of GOTV activities, has the Trump campaign even started the ground work?
