I still say that the problem isn’t Trump, it’s the Trump supporters. He will still garner over 40% of the vote despite being shown to be a opportunistic rapist. You simply cannot support this man and be a decent human- but people still support him. Yes, this is huge. The undecided voters are not going to flock to him. This is going to overshadow the debate like the Death Star. Unless he turns in a stellar debate performance- something he has proven beyond his limited abilities- he’s going to sink in the polls. Yet the Trumpians will stand by their man, they will make excuses for his behavior. I’m sure Kellyann Conway will go in front of the cameras and say this proves how much Trump appreciates women and that it also proves that Hillary is a monster. Yes, she is that much of an ass kisser. He will still carry Mississippi and Alabama and other deep red states. What does that say about these voters? That they will overlook absolutely anything and vote for whatever sociopath carries the R banner? It sure seems that way.

A politician spends their whole career being discreet and circumspect; assuming that every mic is hot; knowing that a scandal will end their career.
A celebrity…not so much (unless you get into Mel Gibson territory. There are still some lines you can’t cross.) There really isn’t such a thing as a “celebrity scandal” any more. All publicity is good publicity. The worst that could happen – some viewer might say “eh, he’s a pig. I knew that already. I still like his TV show.”
Add to that that I thought that it was not going to change much things since that was Trump being Trump.
Until I read the article about the recording, cripes that is not just sexist, he is bragging about attempting to have sex with a married woman and he (Trump) was just recently married to Melania? The hell?
Sidetrack: CNN was playing some tapes of Trump on The Howard Stern Show and he was sniffing then. Very, very clear sniffing. Incredibly clear. Incredibly. Sniff, sniff, sniff.
I agree, but I’m not sure what the solution to the problem is. Let’s say that the Republicans somehow kicked all the deplorables out of the party. What would happen? They would form their own party. Meanwhile what’s leftover of the Republican Party would move to he left and likely absorb the more conservative parts of the Democratic Party. I’m picturing suburban white women, Hispanic Catholics, and chamber of commerce types. After this split I think the breakdown of the three parties would be something like 40/30/30 in favor of the deplorables. We wouldn’t be any better off after a split like that.

How many of us have said “I wouldn’t vote for a Republican if the Democrats ran an orangutan against him” or something similar? I sure have. And thought at the time that I meant it.
Just how nasty a human does your party have to run before you’re really willing to endorse and advance the opposition’s executive policies, SCOTUS nominees, and legislative agenda? For at least four years.
Damn tough question. More so frankly for the Rs who have Faux News filling them with a positively demonic caricature of the actual D positions. To be sure, the actual D positions are *not *conservative positions. Not even close. But they’re also not as far out as Faux shrieks they are.
Look hard in the mirror and ask yourself just how crazy a D nominee in 2020 would make you willing to vote for Cruz or Kasich or Pence to keep the crazy D out of office. Is Al Sharpton bad enough? What about some hard core avowed Leninist? Somebody who admits he takes orders from Beijing?
It’s not a comfortable conversation to have with yourself. Imagine how much easier it is for your basic authoritarian follower personality to simply say “Trump = My Team; Clinton = Their Team. I vote My Team.”
Why? You think this video will shock her with the revelation that Trump isn’t the gentlemanly romantic she previously thought he was?
I guess this is indeed the problem with a politically untested celebrity. In a normal election, you might wonder who the heck would sit on this video for 10 years but with Trump it could be anyone. The video is salacious enough for someone to keep around as a little personal treasure but until now not worth selling to the tabloids. I do wonder how many of these team Clinton has stored up.
In my experience, this kind of “guy talk” is usually about how hot the girl was, how many times you had sex, the positions, etc. but never that you did something against her will. That doesn’t make you sound like a stud, it makes you sound like a criminal.
I’ve thought about this scenario and I think so would support the Republican in certain circumstances. Let’s take the hypothetical of a Romney vs Trump race with Teump as a Democrat. Yes, I know it would never happen, but let’s imagine it somehow did. I would easily vote for Romney (or Jeb or Kasich or McCain) in such a contest
