Clinton v Trump - The Stretch Run Thread

Trump’s statements on beauty, laid out as a beat poem.

Yep, feeling more favorably because sexual predators are fun for the whole family!

Trump has the sexual predator vote sewn up!

I thought Hillary should have issued a followup to the “deplorables” comment:

“Yesterday, I said that half of Trump’s supporters were racists, xenophobes and misogynists. I would like now to go on record that half of Trump’s supporters are not racists, xenophobes and misogynists”.

Re the Wikileaks dump.

Clearly I also see nothing bad in them at all (and by most metrics I am fairly left of center) but let’s focus on the political impact at this particular moment in the election cycle.

Large segments of voting blocs are pretty much set by now.

On the Democratic side the lower information undecideds who are just tuning in now will be hearing mostly the Trump disaster news. Bits in these tapes that “reveal” her as being for large open markets (assuming good deals) and that she does not speak of the banking industry as a cartoon villain along the lines of Snidely Whiplash when speaking to bankers, will not be what gets their attention so much in comparison to Trump’s disgustingness. Clinton has them now.

And the core of Trump’s base, those who I do think of as deplorable albeit not all irredeemable, are his.

Two blocs that are movable though.

Those who do not who they dislike more. The large confirmation of the pig that Trump is raises that more than something that seems to confirm that Clinton will say more moderate statements to an audience of bankers than to a crowd of progressives, that she is a political (ew) creature.

And then those traditionally of the GOP who have been reluctantly passengers on the Trump train. These are not as much low information voters and to them this Wikidump may be reassuring that they can work with Clinton at a moment when they are en masse jumping off the train they are on.

I think this Wikidump helps her.

But to be clear, it would be insulting to call them “deplorables.”

I can honestly say that this video has not changed my opinion of Mr. Trump one jot.

…And maybe he’s finding out that “two day shipping from Slovenia” is actually three when it’s over Columbus Day Weekend…

Maybe ‘flavor roulette’ isn’t as fun when the whole world knows you both are playing?
“Blonde…?”
“Wrong.”
“Brunette…?”
“Wrong.”
“Red Head…?”
“Warmer…”

Any objections to the the Washington Post?

This article agrees with a comment I posted yesterday. Republicans tolerated Trump’s racism but couldn’t stand him attacking white women. It’s a poor reflection on Republicans that all of his other comments didn’t disqualify him.

Just for the record…my Trump-supporting Facebook “friend” has weighed in on the latest news, and has said that it hasn’t changed her views (or those of her like-minded friends) one bit.

So I stuck a toe in the water and asked “is there anything Donald could say or do that would make you change your vote?” and the answer was basically: as long as he continues to not be Hillary, he’s golden.

A lost soul. Sigh.

I can’t help but imagine that the “deplorables” comment would hurt worse if Trump and his merry band weren’t going out of their way to validate it.

Presidential elections have become less volatile over time; Clinton’s sitting on such a big lead now, it would take a huge swing to upset her, and that’s realistically not going to happen.

The only thing I’m still concerned about are down-ticket races. Yes, I do still watch the Presidential numbers, but that’s because I need a good, solid dose of schadenfreude.

…mmmmmm…tasty tasty schadenfreude.

Last time I listened to HS, Giuliani was still mayor. I remember how in love with the guy he was.

That depends on whether they are lying to you, or for you.

I don’t think I’ve seen anything on this (but granted I could’ve missed it), but there’s rumblings that there’s footage of Trump using the n-word on the set of “The Apprentice,” but producer Mark Burnett (Trump supporter) is threatening his employees not to let it get out. There’s supposedly a $5 million penalty for anyone that lets it leak, so people are appealing to Mark Cuban to cover the fine.

The N-word. Now there’s a YUGE iceberg for the Trumptanic.

They could probably crowd-source it at a dollar a pop and get it covered within an hour.

I’m getting my popcorn popper ready.

I’m pretty sure that video of him using that word would actually gain him more supporters in the deplorable basket.
