But reading the entirety of that quote, it sounds more like he was clumsily trying to butter up the vets he was addressing by implying they were “strong”, while expressing compassion for their comrades who weren’t as prepared for the horrors of war.
There are enough skeletons in Mr. Trump’s closet that I think we might be seeing a “shocking” bad news story about Trump every other day from now until Nov 8.
There is just so, so much material to work with.
Expect to hear more stories about the small businesses he shafted, and the people he threw out of work.
As We head into the home stretch, you may want to take a few minutes to reflect on the past year or so by enjoying this gallery of NY Daily News election-related front pages.
They have strongly endorsed Clinton - to put it mildly - some of their Trump headlines were
But look at all of those red states! I’m a real estate magnet! Surely all that acreage counts.
He has no ground game. He is toast.
My longtime friend, I regret that as a possible sundowner, but where you at?
Shoes for industry! Shoes for the dead!
This I remember. :o
I moved from Cleveland some 50 years ago, and he said some assholish things when he was a punk kid, but LeBron has turned out fine. Until they trade him. Then he’s back to being an asshole.
I remember all of those stages. Ain’t it embarrassing? But I’d still do Bill Miller’s daughter.
Yeah. Normally, I’d be worried about the Democrats shooting their bolt too early and leaving the electorate with nothing but a few faded memories by the time the election rolls around. This time, while I still think tactical timing is key for specific scandals relevant to specific groups… let it flow. Keep the dumpster fire burning all month long. We’re not going to run out of fuel.
This made me laugh louder and longer than just about anything else. I especially like Number 3, FACE OF THE NATION (picture of Clinton at the debate, looking like a parent who just saw their child edging towards the cookie jar), subtitle “Hillary’s look says it all as Trump buries himself in bumbling blather”. Some editor or other functionary had a good day that day.
On the other hand, this is the only time I’ll think that the Insane Clown Posse and their fans are being unfairly maligned by being associated with someone. The ICP may not understand magnets, music, or basic good taste, they’re nowhere near as bad for the country as Trump would be. I simply cannot imagine a Juggalo insulting a man for having been a POW, for example, and I purely love/hate the election cycle which makes that a sensical statement I would say in all sincerity.
This will bury him – or more accurately throw more dirt on his grave. Attack his strengths, which are his street cred as a businessman and his fake populist appeal. In every election, every candidate gets framed. It’s just a matter of having political opposition finish the painting. Mitt Romney was framed as the rich out of touch vulture capitalist, and the 47 percent comments put the finishing touches on that masterpiece. With Trump, the frame is that he’s a big fat fucking fraud. Team Hillary has a lot of paint to work with now.
The Trump campaign has also used the fiduciary obligation excuse for his possibly not paying any taxes. So it would seem that this article blows holes in that excuse, in addition to the steel revelations.
Pounds of pastels, oceans of oils, and all of it true. Trump’s been getting away with shit for decades. Luckily, there are few things more viscerally appealing and more fundamentally satisfying than seeing a good comeuppance.
Glad you liked it. My only regret is that most of what he’s guilty of will never get the attention it deserves, either from being lost in the noise or being passed over in favor of releases which are more tactically useful.
(Aside)
You mean the Minerva of Snark, Stephanie? Came out as lesbian some time back, no big shakes, but anyway she’s reading comments on air and one is this guy about how his heart is broken at the news and she says:
“Don’t worry about it, honey, you’ve got just as much of a shot now as you ever did!”
Seems legit. I can totally see the former Secretary of State greenlighting a drone strike on the sovereign embassy of another country right in the middle of the capitol of one of our strongest allies.
Well for one thing, if the CIA was going to take out Assange they’d do it with a shooter with a long gun on a nearby rooftop, or by poisoning his food, or sneaking someone into the embassy as a staffer or a million other ways, not with a frigging Hellfire missile in the middle of a massive city. Honestly they’re not even trying to make the conspiracies remotely plausible are they?
If you’re looking for an impact that pretty much puts his candidacy away, then it looks like he’s impervious to that.
But a month out, all that is really needed is to keep his numbers near their floor of about 38%. If he gets 38%, he loses. When he starts to edge up to 43%, he gets to where he can win. A steady drumbeat of scandals seems to do about 3-5 points of damage to each candidate, and then they rebound when the other candidate becomes the focus of media attention.
So basically, just hope no Clinton stories are the center of media attention in the last week.
