First, I’ll admit that I can, generally, take or leave country music.
So this evening I’m clicking through the channels and I hear the beginnings of a pretty good prelude to Cocker’s “With a Little Help From My Friends”, so I stop to listen. Then out comes this pretty young man who wastes no time ripping into the old favorite. Knock me over with a feather, why don’t you!
I had to go online to find out who he is.

Didja know he’s Australian & married to Nicole Kidman??? He’s definitely pretty!
I knew nothing about him except I’ve heard his name and seen it on a billboard or two. My thirty-something daughter is scrambling to find somebody who tivo’ed the show. She’s also a big Joe Cocker fan, as am I.
And there are several other copies of it on YouTube. I’ll allow you to go through them and tell us which is the best copy.
The performance on last night’s show is the best.
Even after living in Nashville for the last decade, I’m only starting to appreciate that there is some pretty good country music out there. I’m not familiar with most of the artists, but every once in a while I’ll hear something and think – “hey, that’s a pretty cool song!” I’ve heard more than one Keith Urban song I’ve liked (but I couldn’t name any of them if you asked).
Say what? That is the performance on last night’s show.

My wife and I have attended CMA Fest for the last three years. It’s good fun if you’re a country music fan (which I guess I just outed myself as…). Kind of nuts, though. Very tiring if you’re not careful (there’s a lot more going on than the TV show really captures).
O.K., mangeorge, I’m confused too now, but I presume that the performance that you saw on TV just recently was from the CMA fest back in June.
And I assumed it took place the day it aired.
If I get a sudden burst of energy I’ll look into it. 
You’re correct, Wendell Wagner. It’s an annual event. I thought it was a concert that went to different cities. If I had watched the whole thing I probably would have seen that. sharding’s post made me wonder too.
Oops, sorry, I didn’t pick up on the confusion or I would have clarified. It’s four days in June. The TV special always makes it look like it all happens in one night. Each artist does quite a few more songs than they show on TV (though not a full set worth), and there are artists who performed that don’t get shown on the TV special. There are also other stages and events during the day that didn’t get mentioned much during the TV show (some years they show more of the other stuff than they did this year).

Maybe you can answer a question for me; There was a woman singer wearing cowboy (cowgirl) boots and cut-off shorts. I don’t know the song she was singing, but she was so scrawny her bones showed. I wondered if she was ill. I had to click away. Maybe it was just the tv, I don’t know. Do you know who I’m talking about? And is she okay?
The grampa in me wanted to feed her.
I don’t recall anyone looking particularly unhealthy. I’m guessing you’re thinking of Carrie Underwood based on clothing, but I could be forgetting someone. As far as I know she’s fine. If that’s not her, I’d have to go back and look at the recording to see who else it might be.
