Very sad, he was a very funny man who over came many personal demons.
Eve, you’ll need to update your list.

I was just watching the " “101 Most Unforgettable SNL Moments” and saw the one where he’s doing word association with Chevy Chase. “Dead honky!”
Watching CNN coverage now. Spike Lee just finished commentating.
Pryor was not a well man at the end.
This is a main reason why I don’t particpate in the SDMB Celebrity dead pool thread, although I’ve been tempted. Even when I get a guess right, it’d feel wrong.
I’ll have to buy his comedy anthology to cheer me up.
I just came on here to post this same thing.
I’m not really surprised, because he looked terrible just about any time you saw him.
Pryor was a big influence on me, and also on just about every comedian working today.
I can’t properly eulogize him, and so I won’t.
But he will be missed.
IIRC, Pryor had MS, and had been in rough shape for over a decade or so. It’s sad to lose such a great genius, but at the same time, it’s no doubt a blessing for him. I hope that Comedy Central decides to go all out and show every one of his films, since too many of the young kids these days have no idea of who he is.
I’ll never forget Robin Williams blurb on the back of Pryor’s autobiography
Farewell, Richard. May your soul find peace.
While his struggle with MS was horrible, and I’m glad for his family for the release, a large part of the development of my sense of humor has just departed. RIP Rich…
RIP Richard.
You will be missed.
We are gathered here to say goodbye to the dearly departed. He was dearly and he has departed, therefore he is the dearly departed. How do I know the niggas dead? He been lyin’ there for two days and ain’t moved a fucking muscle yet!
When I was 12, my dad said, “Here, you’re old enough I guess.” and put headphones on me. It was That Nigger’s Crazy. I"ve been cursing up a storm ever since.
I’m saddened but he really hasn’t been well for years. Peace be with you, you crazy nigger.
Yeah, although i think i’d actually prefer if they showed some of his (unedited) stand-up routines. That’s where he was really great, IMO.
R.I.P.
I thought he was already dead…
“When you’re on fire, people will get out of your way!”
RIP Richard
I just saw the headline online. Damn. I guess it’s a consolation that he’s at rest now since he hadn’t been well for years but it still sucks.
Now I want to rent The Silver Streak.
Same here.
(Who was I thinking of? Gene Wilder?)
When I get home tonight I’m going to stick a wet Q-Tip in my ear and make monkey noises.
I can’t be surprised, but I’m sorry to hear it. Although my mother was pretty surprised when I told her just now. Talk about your influential comedians and he’s way up there.
If so, you were wrong there too. He is, as far as i know, still around.
I just saw this on Yahoo, and came over here to pay my respects. He was not my favorite, but he blazed the trail for them. I can’t imagine how different comedy would be without his example.
RIP Richard
