It used to be called the “Quote” button, I think. But nowadays every post has a little “reply” button iof its own in the bottom-right-hand corner of the post. that’s what I pressed to quote you.
I didn’t know REPLY was once called QUOTE. I though perhaps it was because my webtv just didn’t show it. So much for that.
So I’m back to where I was.I thought there was a way topick out a sentence or paragraph from a long post using vB coding that would automatically erase the rest of the post,but the only way I’ve found to do it is to delete everything around it manually,and with a really long post it takes forever with your finger on the delete key,watching it gobble up sentence after sentence.I wish every code was as simple asbolding or italics.
It’s faster to highlight the text that you want to delete by using the <shift> <arrow> keys then delete.
Or you can highlight the text you want to quote and click on the far right icon, the one that looks like a little word balloon in a comic strip. Erase the quote tag at the end of the post , but leave the quote tag at the beginning of the post. I’m assuming you want the quotes to be attributed.
That I do,but when I get to the reply box,I’m damned if I see any icons on the right,much less one that looks like a word balloon. You are talking about when you hit reply,and then get to the coded box,aren’t you?
trandallt is referring to the rightmost of the icons just above the reply text entry area. The quote icon actually looks like a square with slightly rounded corners and a pointed tail trailing down like cartoon speech balloons. It contains 4 broken lines, meant to depict text. It’s just below the “color” drop-down selector. The icon behaves as trandallt describes when “enhanced mode” is selected (radio button just above the text entry area).
I see you have WebTV. That may be the source of some of your problems.
Nope,no quote icon,no “color” drop down selector,and no radio button.Webtv would seem to be the source of the problem.I’d get a PC,but that would create complications that I won’t go into,here.
By the way,I always smile when I see your user name,because as a kid (okay, now too) I was a huge fan of Pogo.I miss Walt Kelly.
Trivia question: When someone in the strip said,“He snuzzed him outen his craw”,was he referring to the mouse (or mice) that had taken up residence in Albert’s innards? That line always made me giggle.
So you can see what we’re talking about, I’ve emailed you a screen shot of the reply page. The screen shot starts just below the SD graphic banner and goes to the bottom of my screen.
Wow, that’s pretty,but I just don’t get any of that stuff. If I’d had a screen shot to begin with,most of this seemingly interminable thread wouldn’t have been necessary.So thank you much.
