Coffee

Oh wait, that’s not what you meant by “drunk”. You meant “should we drink coffee”. In which case I don’t really care.

In my best Gilda Radner Voice: Nevermind.

Thank you. Drive through.

Unfortunately, this is a matter of opinion, when talking about taste. The simple truth remains that caffeine is a poison used by the coffee plant to defend itself from predators.

To back myself up here is a quote and a link:

“…caffeine is medically classified as a poison…”

http://www.niehs.nih.gov/odhsb/focus/summer97/caffeine.html

That’s what I get for leaving in the first sentance. I was in no way disagreeing with your coments on it being a poison. I was simply disagreeing with the comment on the level of caffine.

So what you’re saying is that if coffee should be drunk, we all have a moral or ethical obligation to do so?

We have to admit that the word “should” has changed from the dictionary definition, at least in common speech.

Now, now…well, certainly not this weekend. (Q9 says Hi, BTW).

Let’s see. The last time I was conscious…I think it was a Tuesday.

Oh … ok then.

Here is a good link to back up my other statement, that lower quality coffees have more caffeine:
“…Robusta has approximately twice as much caffeine as Arabica.”

(BTW, I fixed the bad URL)

Information you neglected to include:
[ul]
[li]The measurement of 115-175 mg of caffeine is for a 7 oz cup of coffee, while the FAQ does not specify the size of the cup of Tea which contains 40-60 mg.[/li][li]However, a measurement is given for Iced Tea: a 12 oz glass contains 70 mg of caffiene.[/li][li]The most important ommited fact: “The variability in the amount of caffeine in a cup of coffee or tea is relatively large even if prepared by the same person using the same equipment and ingredients day after day.”[/li][/ul]

Just earning my sig…

You’re not going to believe this, Derleth, but there is a sizable number of men in Russia who blame the entire Communist experiment – all 70+ years of the Soviet Union’s existence – on women!
