Coincidences and My Audiobook

I listen to audiobooks while I’m walking the dogs in the morning. I had two neat coincidences, one yesterday and one today.

Yesterday, the narrator said, “As we were walking, a heron flew above our heads”. At that very second, I happened to look up, and lo and behold, there was a heron, flying above my head!

This morning: I mentioned in a different post that I’m loving my new favorite app, Picture This, for ID’ing plants. For the last week, I’ve been IDing everything I walk by. Even the plants that I know, I run them through the app and save them. I came across some pineapple weed. I ran it through the app, and just as I was reading the other names for it, one being wild chamomile, the narrator said, “I’m thinking about putting wild chamomile in between the flagstones.” !

[Close Encounters of the Third Kind]”This means something.”

I had a minor coincidence yesterday also. I was listening to the Broadway channel on satellite radio and I heard a song called “Haus of Holbein” from the musical Six. Later in the day, there was a Jeopardy! question about Hans Holbein, and I nailed it, which I probably wouldn’t have done if his name hadn’t been fresh in my mind.

Yeah, yours is better!

That’s a good one too! I love it when something like that happens. You hear about something or see something that’s not very common, and then POOF, it comes up somewhere else, totally unrelated, the same day.

My examples aren’t so dramatic as your truly poetic one… but fairly often, I’ll be watching TV or have it on but not particularly watching, while reading a book at the same time. Someone on TV will say a word that my eye has just fallen on in the book. I don’t mean common words like “person, woman, man, camera, TV” ( :face_with_hand_over_mouth: ), but kind of uncommon ones, like mediocre, quantum, existentialism, ungodly, and one time I remember: kookaburra (Australian bird-- we learned a song about them in grade school). Always strikes me as odd at the time. And later.

That’s all I got.

I’ve had that too! While reading, I hear a word I just read spoken from somewhere else.

I love things like that. It’s kind of mysterious.
