"Cold Case" season premiere

Yay! One of my favorite shows is back on – though why I like it when it’s always so freakin’ depressing, I don’t know.

I must have missed a few episodes at the end of last season – who’s Lill’s BF? And why is the captain pissed off at her?

On the season finale last year, they were investigating a case where a drug counselor at a rehab center was killed. Except, he wasn’t really dead, he was hiding out at some house in the country. Lily was supposed to drive out to the house with Scotty (I think), but instead she called in sick, and drove out there on her own. She ended up finding the missing counselor, and they started a relationship with each other (for some reason, she felt a connection to him the moment she took the case). The captain was angry that she disobeyed orders and went to the house alone.

Ah, okay. Thanks!

I think it’s one of the best, too. Depressing, often, but always very touching.

I’m not normally much of a crier, but that show has gotten me more than once.

Several times more than once, actually.

This is one of my favorite shows, too. But it is always, by definition, very sad. My husband doesn’t watch it with me, usually – he’ll go on the computer or something. Then he’ll come in the living room after and say, “Why do you watch this shit? Every Sunday evening, I come in and you’re covered with tears and snot!” It’s just so good, though!

Last night’s ep was one of the sadder ones, too. Another one that really got me was last year – the one with the guy who was burying young boys alive? When the young hustler asked, “If I go to Heaven, do you think my mom will know who I am?” Geez. I’m tearing up just thinking about it.

I have a wicked crush on Scotty. When he was banging Lily’s sister there was an episode when he was getting dressed or something and was wearing his dress slacks and a wife-beater t-shirt… Man. Don’t think I didn’t back up and rewatch that scene a time or two!

And the one where the fat girl died in the frat-house fire? Aw, geez. When that came on rerun, I watched long enough to see which episode it was – the father giving her the shawl to wear – and started tearing up.

Yeah, that was a killer, too.

I don’t watch reruns of this show at all. The episodes are all grueling enough on first view. I don’t usually want to put myself through it a second time.

IMHO, the all time tear jerker was the case of the little boy whose body was found in the water. It had everything–evil uncle, kidnapping for ranson, child molester buying a kid, mother in denial, sexually abused son, child porn site, and a second cold case of a person who deserved to die (of course, no charges were filed).
