Shayna mentioned Knott’s Berry Farm. If one is to visit KBF in October, one simply MUST go during the Halloween Haunt. Ghosts and ghouls and witches roam the park to scare you to pieces and the rides and grounds are appropriately decorated. Hosting this year will be Elvira, Mistress of the Dark and the Cryptkeeper.
Knott’s has been doing this since 1973 and it’s quite possibly the best of its kind.

Mr. Seawitch works at the Magic Kingdom, so I may be able to arrange a small number of free tickets for those Dopers who are a) tourists to our area and b) on a tight budget. (I’m kinda thinking of Francesca here, but she can bring Coldfire if he’s the official driver… unless, of course, they would both rather eat dirt than see the Mouse.)

I have to admit I don’t think I’m the Disney kinda person. But I do appreciate the offer!
Halloween is, officially, October 31. But if you click on that link I provided, you can see Knott’s Halloween Haunt (aka Knott’s Scary Farm) is on October 4, 5, 6, 7, 11, 12, 13, 14, 18, 19, 20, 21, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30 and 31. Most nights, it’s on until 1 AM, some nights until 2 AM and, IIRC, until 3 AM on Halloween itself. Some nights WILL be sold out.
OK, so I just wasted a good 10 minutes trying to come up with a joke involving clogs, cartoons, and the “Small World” theme song. Nuthin’.
I will be checking on the tix tonite for Francesca - as soon as I have a total available, I’ll post it.
Put me down as a maybe for a Saturday night do (can’t do that Friday nite or Saturday day thing but once the sun sets O boy).
I will offer to pick someone up from the airport or be transportation during the week (I work in the South Bay area) also [sub]Mustang Convertible[/sub]. E-mail me and I will give you my phone number so that if you need a ride, even at the last minute, you can get in touch with me.

I like the Getty idea too. I’ve never had a problem making reservations and parking. The new facility has much greater capacity than the old one. We could make reservations in several names, you don’t get charged if you don’t show up.

As for the Getty, if that’s something the group wants to do on either Saturday or Sunday (it definitely gets my vote), no parking reservations are needed. It’s changed since it first opened and you no longer need to reserve parking on the weekends or after 4:00PM during the week.
deb2world, that is such a nice offer! At the very least, let’s try to plan on having lunch one of those days. I sure hope you can make Saturday night, though - I’d love to meet you!

Now, about Saturday night’s activities. At the moment I’m kindof disappointed. I had hoped to get us a banquet room at The Cheesecake Factory in Redondo Beach. With the way it’s shaping up, we’re probably going to have around 40 or more people for dinner. With a group this size, we really need to find a restaurant that has a room for private parties. TCF has 2 rooms upstairs, but sadly, there is only space available on the 20th from 11:30 to 4:00PM and no space available on Friday night, either. 
I’ll keep thinking, but if anyone can come up with an idea, please let me know.
Why don’t we just have a kegger at your house, Shitgirl?
