Happened to notice a thread that mentioned Cole’s Law. Puzzled me for a moment. I’ve heard of Megan’s Law and similar laws enacted in memory of other victims of crime.
Cole was a new one to me, however, and I was racking my brain trying to think who Cole was and what horrible thing had happened to him, warranting a law in his honour.
Then I thought, “why is a legal thread in Café Society?”
Back in the 80s, I had a book that listed all the “Murphy’s Law” thingos that have been created over the past short while, and in amongst all the seriousness and irony was “Cole’s Law: Thinly Sliced Cabbage.”
Saw a ‘Help Wanted’ sign in a restaurant where I’d love to work, over the weekend.
I was up early, showered, did my hair, put on my make up. Dug out my ‘getting a job’ clothes, and dress overcoat. Walked thirty minutes in the cold damp breeze to put in my resume ----- closed on Mondays!
I came in here to find out what Cole’s Law was. Roger Ebert used to have a rule that no Western with a character named Cole was more than a B movie, so I thought it might be that. :smack:
