College Basketball 2009

Yup, that was tough.

Meanwhile, even though still undefeated, Kentucky is ranked too high for an unproven team. The win against U of L was satisfying because Pitino had his boys all aggressed up to get UK psyched out of the game. The fox, Calipari, anticipated that and UK provided the correct riposte. Not basketball but an interesting game.

I agree they are probably ranked too high, but given their wins over ranked opponents (UNC, UCONN) and their moxie in beating their talented rival Louisville, whom else would you put up there at this point in the season?

They have a reasonable shot at running the table in what appears to be a weak SEC this year.

Anyway, I really liked the way the U of L game played out. Pitino was pissed, and Calipari and I were happy. The Clash Of The Italians.

Yeah but UNC doesn’t appear to be ranked based on anything other than their uniforms. Hell, College of Charleston beat those clowns.

Yeah, that’s kind of happened to UCONN, too, but fortunately they were both ranked pretty favorably when UK played them.

What a crazy year in the Pac 10. The only ranked team, Washington, has lost 2 games in a row and they’ll likely fall out of the rankings. USC was showing signs of coming on strong, but now with their tourney hopes gone, they’ll have a hard time getting motivated.

Unless Arizona wins the Pac 10 tournament, their NCAA streak is likely over.

Delicious day, OSU punched the Baylor women and Tech men in the mouth at home.

Mulkey and Knight just left Gallagher-Iba baffled. I approve.

Wow! Arizona State knocking the stuffing out of Washington State!

Love it!

Live score

Mizzou beat a #10 ranked K-State team yesterday at home. It was a real whistle-fest, which are the worst kind of game to watch. I was worried about losing are top two players from last year, but this teams plays unbelievably hard, and has no quit. Obviously they are not as good as Texas or Kansas, but I believe they can challenge for a top four seed in the Big XII tourney.

Great win today by Arizona State. Hopefully, UA can beat Washington today and make the Pac 10 race interesting.

Haven’t seen the Tigers yet - are they still doing the 40 minutes of hell thing? That’s always fun to watch happen to somebody else.

Yeah. They seem to be running it even better then last year, but we won’t know before they play Kansas in a couple weeks.

Speaking of Kansas…

And Florida goes to 0-2 in the SEC after the Wildcats learn how to close out a game (finally!)

Bledsoe had a great night, Patterson and Wall were solid and Cousins showed some real post moves. This team should get past Auburn without trouble, Pelphrey’s got a question mark of an Arkansas team (but we should win) and then the real challenges show up: Vandy in Nashville, South Carolina and Ole Miss.

I don’t think we can run the table, but we’re taking a shot at it.

Oh ye of little faith…

Its just as well that the Wildcats pick up a loss or three before the tournaments start, just to get a little taste of sourness.

I don’t know that I necessarily agree with a loss being good for them, but I just wish the boys would really start stepping on these teams throats.

On the other hand, I’m more excited about this UK team than I’ve been since 98.

So, the Cats roll into that bustling metropolis, Auburn, Ala., for a showdown Saturday afternoon with the Tigers.

Auburn, of course, is fresh off playing a good 15 minutes against the Knoxville Detention Center squad before remembering that Charles Barkley and Wesley Person don’t play for them any more and losing by 20+.

It should be interesting to see if Auburn can come out and hit 3s and rebound like they did in the first half against the Fighting Pearls, because this Kentucky team still has issues with perimeter defense and if Big Cuz can’t stay out of foul trouble, the rebounding advantage gets a lot smaller.

So, let’s see. Neither the Arizona nor Arizona State games were televised on Thursday. Today, Arizona State is on tv at 2:30 and Arizona at 4:30, at the SAME TIME AS THE CARDINALS!

Hopefully, they’ll replay both games so I can see how both teams are doing.

Washington, who was considered dead is now spanking Cal. Does anyone want to win the Pac 10?

ESPN showed a highlights of a pre-game fight during warmups in todays game between Louisville and Georgetown game.

Hold on, wait a minute, Georgetown is not playing today and playing Villanova tomorrow. and Louisville lost to Pitt already today.

Well it was the **Womens College Basketball **game between Louisville and Georgetown.

UA beating Oregon. Yeah, no one wants to win the Pac 10. Should make for a great Pac 10 tournament.

how many teams from the PAC-10 will make the NCAAs? I can’t see more than two. If the regular season champ and the tournament champ is the same team, it could be just one team.
