You can laugh, but like 80-90% of the country won’t. I know that people on the West Coast believe in Wack-12, but the fact is, they’re afraid to play SEC teams right now - and for good reason.
In 20 years, when people Google or search a sports almanac for FBS champions of 2017-18, it’ll say Alabama. Period. Get over it.
Wack 12 went undefeated against the SEC this season and UCLA has scheduled home and aways with LSU and Georgia in the coming years. Lets see if Alabama has the guts to play away at a major power.
Alabama thought they were playing a major power when they played USC on opening day a year or two ago. Guess the Trojans just didn’t show up for the fight. And in any case, how many championships has the Wack 12 one in the last 25 years? When’s the last time a Wack 12 team other than USC won an undisputed title? Like right around never maybe?
Anything prior to the 4 team playoff format wasn’t really a title that was won on the field. I’ll give credit to SEC for recent success in 4 team playoff titles, but in general anything before that was a flawed subjective beauty contest and only partially valid.
And that doesn’t just apply to SEC, it applies to everyone. The polls are flawed and titles awarded based on them should be taken with a grain of salt, maybe an asterisk and a comment (* 50% chance this #1 team really would have beat the team we ranked #2).
Oh okay, well then how many titles has the Wack 12 won in the playoff era? Haven’t they had 2 teams in the playoffs already?
Ohio State 42 Oregon 20
Alabama 24 Washington 7
Wasn’t that the Wack 12?
I think the Committee figured it out: Wack 12 is…Wack 12.
The 1 time the Wack 12 won an undisputed title was with a USC that broke the rules so badly that Pete Carroll had to leave the program and they had their championship nullified.
You’re right: it was on a neutral field. Where USC usually gets owned whenever they don’t have a double murderer in the backfield and whenever they aren’t playing semi-professional paid athletes.
Not sure what your point is, I already said I give SEC credit for their results in the new format. SEC won twice, ACC once, Big 10 once. So that’s pretty good for SEC so far and it’s happening on the field so there isn’t much to debate about those four results.
Yes. But Austin Peay was a last-minute replacement for the cancelled Georgia Tech game, because they happened to be available during what would have been UCF’s bye week.
As long as you acknowledge that UCF is in the title conversation, we don’t disagree. As I’ve already explained, nobody actually thinks UCF are the national champions. It’s just brilliant trolling, which also happens to be a brilliant fundraising and recruiting strategy.
