College football rivalry thread.

Over here, the rivalry is UC-Stanford.

Go UC!

Q: Why did Tennessee choose orange for its team color?

A: Because you can wear it to the game on Saturday, hunting on Sunday, and picking up trash by the road the rest of the week.

Go Georgia! (I have no idea whether we have a fight song or not.)

Penn State SUCKS!
Penn State SUCKS!

P-E-N-N-S-T SUCKS!

Simple yet effective. This is sung at every football game that Pitt plays even though we aren’t allowed to play PSU until 2008 because they are big wussies… AND we just won our game today against Temple (30-16)!

:smiley:

Duke just beat UNC for this first time since 1989. The Duke quarterback in that game, Anthony Dilweg, was my classmate. I am now 37. Not only that, but Duke won their 2nd ACC game this season today. Their second since the new interim coach took over after Carl Franks was fired a few weeks ago. The last ACC win prior to these two was in November, 1999 against Wake. Duke went the entire 2000 and 2001 seasons without a win. I won’t be talking bowl games, but Duke is officially OUT OF THE NATIONAL CELLAR!

Q: How many Central Michigan students does it take to change a lightbulb?

A: None. There’s no electricity in Mt. Pleasant, just ugly, easy women.
Fight on, fight on for Western
Take the ball, make a score, win the game!
Onward for the Brown and Gold
Push 'em back, push 'em back, bring us fame!

Fight on, fight on for Western,
Over one, over all we will reign!
Fight Broncos, Fight! Fight with all your might!
Western win this game!

:smiley: :smiley: :smiley: Auburn 28, Alabama 23 :smiley: :smiley: :smiley:

Q: Why is the Alabama football team banned from swimming in the Gulf of Mexico?

A: Last time they went swimming there, they left a scum-ring around it.

Q: Why did they install astroturf in Iowa?

A: So the cheerleaders wouldn’t graze.

:sigh:

Floyd of Rosedale resides yet in Iowa, but wait’ll next year!

At least Paul Bunyan’s axe is in its rightful home.

Ski-U-Mah!

Rub a little salt in the open wounds, why don’t you! :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad:

:wink: I’ll get over it, when you regain our victory status next year

when we regain***

You see how this loss is affecting me!?!?

[sub]Buckeyes lose[/sub]
God, I hate FOOTBALL!!!

Good lord, those are some crappy fight songs! Here’s a good one to get your heart pumping:

On the banks of the Red Cedar
Is a school that’s known to all;
Its specialty is winning,
And those Spartans play good ball;
Spartan teams are never beaten,
All through the games they fight;
Fight for the only colors,
Green and White.
Go right thru’ for MSU,
Watch the points keep growing.
Spartan teams are bound to win,
They’re fighting with a vim.
RAH! RAH! RAH!
See their team is weakening,
We’re going to win this game.
Fight! Fight! Rah! Team, Fight!
Victory for MSU.

Apprently we had a terrific game yesterday against Penn State (I couldn’t get the game on my TV and had to follow it online), with Jeff Smoker becoming the first Spartan QB to throw over 3000 yards in a season. What a great end to a great season, which was such a refreshing change from last year’s misery.

Go Green! Go White! Go State! :smiley:

C’mon, spooje. We’ll go drown our sorrows together. :frowning:

:)GO BLUE:)

Goodness. I see all the Gamecocks are still too far down in the depths of misery to post in the rivalry thread. Sorry, guys.

Wow, you really are “No Clue Boy”. :slight_smile:

Boomer Sooner, Boomer Sooner,
Boomer Sooner, Boomer Sooner,
Boomer Sooner, Boomer Sooner,
Boomer Sooner, OK-U!

Oklahoma, Oklahoma,
Oklahoma, Oklahoma,
Oklahoma, Oklahoma,
Oklahoma, OK-U!

I’m a Sooner born,
And a Sooner bred,
And when I die
I’ll be Sooner dead!

Rah, Oklahoma! Rah, Oklahoma!
Rah, Oklahoma! OK-U!

Ohio State Buckeye in spirit here (born on campus!)…

First, I congratulate Michigan on their victory and wish we could beat them more reliably. Wolverines, nice work. See, not all Buckeye fans will vandalize cars with Michigan license plates.

Second, to set the record straight, I would like to introduce the board to the real words of the Michigan fight song:

Hail! To the big csuckers
Hail! To the motherf
ers
Hail! Hail! To Michigan,
The cesspool of the land!

Not terribly classy, but it plays well in Columbus…

No No No, y’all have it wrong, this is the real fight song:

Oh, they had a little party down in Newport;
There was Harry, there was Mary, there was Grace.
Oh, they had a little party down in Newport,
And they had to carry Harry from the place.

Oh, they had to carry Harry to the ferry,
And the ferry carried Harry to the shore;
And the reason that they had to carry Harry to the ferry
Was that Harry couldn’t carry any more.

For California, for California,
The hills send back the cry,
We’re out to do or die,
For California, for California,
We’ll win the game or know the reason why.

And when the game is over,
We will buy a keg of booze,
And drink to California
'till we wobble in our shoes.

So drink, tra la la,
Drink, tra la la,
Drink, drank, drunk last night,
Drunk the night before;
And I’m gonna get drunk tonight
Like I never got drunk before;
For when I’m blitzed, I’m as happy as can be
For I am member of the Souse family.

Now the Souse family is the best family
That ever came over from old Germany.
There’s the Highland Dutch, and the Lowland Dutch,
The Rotterdam Dutch, and the Irish.

Sing glorious, victorious,
One keg of beer for the four of us.
Sing glory be to God that there are no more of us,
For one of us could drink it all alone. Damn near.
Here’s to the Irish, dead drunk.

Yes our penises are much bigger than those found near OSU but we try not to brag too much. It is nice that you all have noticed :wink:

By the way, the U of Memphis (where I got my Master’s degree) won yesterday, bringing our record to 8-3 this year. We started the season with two wins, the first time we’ve started 2-0 since 1976. The second of this year’s wins was against Ole Miss, our first victory over an SEC team since 1996.

As I said, we’re now 8-3, making this the first time since 1973 that we’ve won eight regular-season games in a year. We’re also on a five-game winning streak; I have no idea how long it’s been since we did that.

In short, this has been a thrilling year for a team that hasn’t even had a .500 season since 1994.

Go Tigers!

Wow. You beat Temple. Want a cookie?

I go to Syracuse. Why do you ask?

Our fight song is better than our team right now:

Down, down the field goes old Syracuse.
Just watch those backs line the line and go though (Hey!).
Down, down the field they go marching
Fighting for the Orange staunch and true (rah, rah, rah!).
Vict’ry’s in sight for old Syracuse.
Each loyal son know the Panthers’ll* lose.
So we’ll fight, yes we’ll fight and with all our might
for the glory of old Syracuse.
Go Syracuse! Go fight and win!

At least we won’t have a losing season (knock on wood). Long live the Big East and what’s a Hokie?
