I had one last year. It wasn’t that big a deal, actually.
Yes, I had to drink about a gallon of some nasty stuff the night before. Then the next morning, I went to my gastroenterologist’s office for the procedure. They gave me some kind of IV anesthetic. The doctor told me that it was something new, and that the recovery was really fast, and I’d be able to go home by myself (I wasn’t driving – I took the subway).
So I went into the room and they stuck the IV needle in. I started to feel drowsy, and I asked the doctor’s assistant (the person administering the anesthetic) if we were ready to start yet. She laughed and said that we were already done. I got dressed, and discussed the results with the doctor in his office (all was well). I sat in the waiting room for a few minutes just to make sure I felt OK, and then I went home.
That was it. No problems, no pain, no big deal at all.
