This is a shot in the dark…but I have the most fabulous stray dog here that needs a home!
I found a large, old & decrepit male golden retriever near my house. I’ve had him for two days; & nobody is looking for him. He is absolutely sweet, & in horrible condition. Some of his nails were almost 2" long & curled under his pads making it hard for him to walk; I had them cut off by my vet. He is covered with sores, filth & almost every inch of his coat is matted & filthy. He is scheduled for a total clipping on Thursday (over $200, yikes!) He is arthritic & stinks. He is the sweetest animal, and when I’m home just sleeps next to wherever I am. There is no way I’m taking him to the pound…he’d be killed. Local rescue organizations are up to their ears with unwanted dogs.
He needs a home for the last 2-3 years of his life. I’ve named him Eleventh because I found him on 11th Ave.
Eleventh needs a home!
Carina, I’d do it if I could
With the consideration that I may very well be rejoining the Air Force, I could likely be leaving the country within a few short months. I’m concerned as it is whether I’ll be able to have my doggie come along with me wherever I go.
Good luck finding a home!
WHAT?!!
Explain please.
And Carina, I would LOVE to…unfortunately my husband would drop dead. (hmmm…:D)
You’ve named him… uh oh.
Here’s a site for the Golden Retriever Rescue group in Colorado: http://www.championpuppy.com/rescue/golden.htm
Carina:
We can’t, but I’m going to check around town today to see what is possible down here.
Jill…I know…naming strays is always dangerous! I’ve fostered quite a few dogs for a local mutt rescue, so I’m pretty good about letting them go. Golden Rescue here told me the dog is probably too old to place, though I’m on their list.
There’s just something about big old dogs that get to me, they just deserve a warm place in thier twilight years.
TV If you find someone, I’ll deliver! Aren’t you in SW Colorado somewhere? That’s my favourite part of the state.
Thanks all, for good thoughts.
Woof.
I forgot to point out that I did do the responsible thing of leaving his description with local Animal Control. Just in case anyone thinks I’m trying to steal him or something.
Although I don’t think he should go back to the home he came from.
