I think it is high time we have a Boulder Dopefest, all!
I propose the following:
Saturday, October 30th
Gather for dinner downtown sometime between 6 and 7, depending on when works best for people. I suggest either BJs, which is a great pizza place that brews its own beer, Old Chicago, another pizza place with a lot of beer, or the Walnut Brewery. They’re all relatively inexpensive, and since I’ve been told that Colorado fests should involve lots of beer, well, there you go.
After dinner I propose that we go to the following:
CABARET DIOSA’S ROCKY MTN HORROR PICTURE SHOW
FEATURING DEVOTCHKA
This year the Fab Cab have cooked up another audio-visual extravaganza the likes of which has never been seen before or since; unless you went to last years Halloween show. The madness takes place on Saturday October 30 starting at 9:30 p.m. (21+). Call the box office at 303-786-7030 for tickets and details, or visit them on-line and buy tickets at www.bouldertheater.com.
The rocky show is not cheap, unfortunately- 27 bucks. (ouch). If that’s not something that y’all are into, we can church it and just seek our own entertainment on Pearl Street.
My apologies, but having accidentally wandered up to Boulder once on a football game day…well, never again. I’d be up for a Colorado dopefest - even up there in the people’s republic of Boulder, the town between the mountains and reality Just not this coming Saturday.
Ok, I’ve had supper and am feeling quite a bit less…grumpy now. Well, do you think you could find some sort of parking area where I wouldn’t get towed or pay an outrageous fee to not get towed up there? I’ll grant that it’s been a few years since I’ve visited Boulder…
And if there’s any one in the Denver metro area who might need a ride up and back I would reconsider, though I can’t really afford the $27 show you’re proposing…
Actually, the busiest area of congestion is the Hill. Pearl Street is generally busy on the weekends, but not much more so on game weekends than anytime else.
And the parking garages are free on the weekends.
In that case, how about we forget about the show and just socialize?
Mr. Purl and I are up for a Dopefest, but this Saturday we’re probably going to be all caught up in Halloween stuff for the kids. We’re also poor and have a tiny wee baby, so the show is out for us too-- but some sort of socializing at some time would be cool.
(Slight hijack) Mr. Purl had his heart set on the baby having a lobster costume for Halloween. I’ve been making one, but just taking him around the neighborhood a bit seems kind of anticlimactic after all the work I’ve put into it. Anyone know whereabouts in the Denver metro area would be a nice place for me to show off my baby in his costume?
