To be fair to peeker, his 1st 3 attempts were all blocked by the Scum.
Though Nanook, MHaye, and ToeJam were all Town
So he really only killed 3 Town ToeJam, MHaye, and Cookies. that only lowered the mislynches by 1.5 (and that .5 was crucial since Alka bought the Town an extra half mislynch with his block of Drain.)
Since he didn’t kill until after the SK death, it was as if we had a Night Start
Without him, Day 2 would have started 14-4 with 4 (plus a half) mislynches. (though Alka did buy the Town and extra half mislynch with his block of Drain) for 5 mislynches
with him killing 3 Town, there were really only 3 mislynches for Town. (plus Alka’s half)
So you’re saying he wasn’t worse because scum actually worked against their own interests?
My thoughts on the Vigilante’s actions: if (s)he has a chance to refrain from using them without information, (s)he should do so. Doing otherwise (particularly during the first couple of Nights) turns you into a tool for scum.
I think you’re missing the point. (or I’m not being clear again)
I understand my rule was ambiguous. Had the opportunity to impose my rule occurred, I would have more than likely enforced it the way you expected it to be enforced. Read over in the Spoiler thread, it was thoroughly explained to me in there.
So, the rule played out the way you expected it to, not the way I originally would have used it.
Now, it’s true that had I explicitly stated it the way I intended to, it would have been different. I didn’t, and you didn’t know that I was making an incorrect assumption for the first few Nights. An assumption which had no impact on the gameplay.
IN essence, the rule was as you expected it to be, and the way your PM reads, despite my not understanding it initially.
Waiting until the Cop claimed and then thinned out the unconfirmed pool probably would have been best.
Night 5, when the Town had Town reads (or GF)
MHaye
Tom
Alka
Peeker
Guiri
and unconfirmed of:
3 Scum plus
Cookies
Story
Red
He would have had a 50-50 chance shooting into the unconfirmed pool (granted he couldn’t have known that, but in any case, he would have reduced the number of hiding places for the Scum.
OK thanks, that’s clearer. Yes, in that case it had no effect. Makes me feel better, I thought I’d been playing to the wrong rule for the whole game (and I spent a lot of time agonising over my night actions).
Well, Pede was pretty obviously going to hang at the time he claimed; it was pretty much the only way he’d get himself even another turn or two (and he might have lasted for a while depending on whether Diver protected him).
In the future, I have no idea how to deal with a player like Meeko. He’s got a decent eye and picks up on some sharp clues here and there. But he’s also quite seemingly batshit crazy. Which is good. I really did wish we got to see the next Day with Meeko claiming Scum (That’s something I’d have LOVED to have seen). And meeko seems to work well in a group that can try to control him… He’s a very resourceful and valuable asset for scum manipulation whether he’s town or scum, and I can say as Town i would never really want to face off with a Meeko and have to determine town or scum. In that situation, I’d probably want to pull a Peeks and just off him early to not worry about it.
**I can do you one better my man, If it was up to me, I would have Voted myself at the start of “today” had we not won. **
Yes, that would have done me in. Yes everyone would have voted for me.
But, when you have a Demoted Alpha, via no Dick left, he is pretty much goon. That, and no one, scum or otherwise, would have to cook up a reason to Vote me. Nothing for anyone to pick up on.
It’s a long shot, I know, but did anyone keep track of all of the votes (including retracted votes)? I’d like to see just how badly my program would have failed, but it’d be a lot of work to wade through the game and pick them out myself.
On another note, I have a game I could run, but I’d want an experienced moderator to check it over to make sure it’s balanced (and, of course, to volunteer not to play in it). It’s a fairly simple one, but with a couple of new twists.
Hey, Peeks, I know i CRUSHED you over on the other threads, but no hard feelings? You did what you had to do, and I was just mostly bitter about being the first to die by your blade
It’s all in good fun, and you’re a good man. What happens in the game, stays in the game as Mhaye loves to believe. But I do like the term “pulling a peeks”
Chronos, I believe you have said your program is open source. Would you mind giving me a copy (or telling me where I could find it). I would just like to see how you went about this.
