I had originally intended for the roleblockers to not be blockable.
The other power roles explicitly state that their powers can be blocked.
I do see how the roleblockers PM should lead them to believe that they can be blocked.
In the game, anyway, no roleblocker was blocked until Night 6, and even then, it made no difference. So had I enforced the rule the way everyone expected it to be, then the game would have gone the same way.
Had anyone asked me, however, and I explained it the way I had initially intended, Red probably would not have been lynched.
I struggled with that, and probably would have consulted the spoiled people had a roleblocker blocked a roleblocker. I’m certain they would have talked me into enforcing the block.
You are right, as was pointed out to me. But, like I said, the game actually played out as if the rules you were expecting were actually in place…so I don’t think it was a factor.
And I saw the bright and shining moment to shift my vote, and you guys already cleared it earlier, stating that anyone would move a vote in the name of self preservation. Town or not.
The best part? You guys treated me as Godfather, even after that role had no meaning what so ever.
And no one commented on my Post count numbers. [Yeah, I know I just made up for it right now. So sue me.]
I think this was my best game yet. But It still got to me. Sorry Skeezix
The fact that roleblocker had a rules issue is news to me. You see, I kinda skimmed this game. Because well, you know us scum do that.
But seriously, was that why Alka was asking the questions on what happened two nights back? I soooooo did not pick up on that, and I doubt I would have, even if I was Town and paying attention.
I see Roleblocker, and I have one set definition of what it does. I wouldnt think to think otherwise.
I think the actual ‘optimal’ scum move would have been to have Mental Guy kill Alka.
That would have eliminated the fear Scum would have had from being ‘detected’ by Alka.
The Scum should have expected Peeker not to shoot.
However, had peeker shot from the unconfirmed pool (no guarantee after Night 5), his possibilities were:
1 out of 6 chance Tom was godfather.
2 out of 5 chance any others were Scum
6.67% chance of hitting Scum
5 out of 6 chance Tom was NOT godfather
3 out of 5 chance any others were Scum
50% chance of hitting Scum
So, in reality, peeker had a 57% chance of hitting Scum by shooting into the unconfirmed pool. He just didn’t.
And he shouldn’t have tried, because he wouldn’t buy the Town an extra mislynch, they’d still be at lynch or lose at 4-2 (assuming Alka was dead)
Because there was no kill on Night 3, the Night he blocked Drain. If you were paying attention in the game thread, Drain tried to kill Alka Seltzer that Night and failed.
Actually, I think that’s my takeaway from this game; no frigging benefit of the doubt for players with bad track records; if you mislynch you mislynch but I did myself ridiculous amounts of damage by trying to keep Freudian (and Meeko) in perspective.
That simply isn’t true Ed, if I’d known that I wouldn’t have pushed the Red lynch. I’d have been more likely to claim after blocking Drain if I’d known I couldn’t find the scum blocker. I was also thinking I could semi-confirm people if the scum kill went thorugh and Peeker was blocked. You really should have posted a clarification in game.
I think the scum team would probably still have won though. Drain was in a pretty good position, and MentalGuy had very little suspicion all game.
I also found it very frustrating when you wouldn’t answer my questions about scum night actions when we were trying to decide what to do about Nanook.
No, the game DID play out the way it would have with the rules you expected.
I didn’t clarify because no one asked, and had they asked, or had the event occurred, I’m pretty certain that he spoiled would have talked me into enforcing the rules as you expected them to be, and as they appeared to be.
The only way it would have been an issue would have been if I had clarified them earlier or if a roleblocker on roleblocker interaction had occurred. Because it didn’t, the game played out exactly as you expected it to…exactly as it would have if roleblockers could roleblock other roleblockers.
You’re stating that the game would have been different if you had known what you assumed to be true wasn’t true…AND that what you assumed to be true should have been true. You can’t have it both ways.
But, I do apologize for that, even though it had no impact on the outcome.
Heh, yeah… I was really hoping I coulda been a power role and lay low through the game or at least get to Claim **Ro0sh **at some point. But then I had to go and be the first townie in a line of Viggings…
-So why’d you kill each of the peep you did, Peeks? I’m curious as to why me.
Also, from reading the scum boards: I found it hilarious that both **Storyteller **and I got suspicion on Day 1 for voting for Rin’s odd actions, but Storyteller got all the heat because he’s the "experienced’ player while i was just a newbie fingering Rin and probably not as big a threat. That was my goal precisely, I just wish I had kept up on the Meeks–>Rin wagon. I always give subbed players a Pass when it comes to their roles, and I really shouldn’t do that. Not that it mattered, I couldn’t really start playing this game until Week 3, and even then that day was over so quick I never got a chance to log in and play- and then I was Vigged off so quickly without a hint or chance of a defense so nothing really I could do except bitch from the sidelines.
Sorry Ed, but the rule as stated in #67 wasn’t ambiguous, it was simply wrong. If the rule had been stated corretly I’d have played my game differently. It affected my strategy and caused the Red mis-lynch. It’s unfortunate, but there is nothing that can be done about it now.
