Won’t somebody please think of the children?
Why, are the squid eating them?
If so, maybe we’ve found a way to capture a live specimen. We’ll just need a really big hook…
This thread is the coolest.
I know what the next group of seafaring adventurers in my D&D world will face.
BWAAH-HAAAH-HAAAAAAH-HAAAH!!!
That’s definitely a way cool squid. When I walk past our local Chinatown and admire all the dried cuttlefish and flourescent orange octopi hanging in the windows, I’ll think of one of those colossal’s sneaking into the harbour one night, worming its way through the storm sewers and pulling down the occasional passing shopper with those reversible razor sharp hooks.
However, for me the coolest sea animal is still the Whale Shark. It’s the largest known shark (by far) yet eats by filter feeding. So far as I know, they have no natural enemies and just regally cruise the oceans - occasionally getting it on with other Whale Sharks I suppose but otherwise pretty much just passing through.
